Location: Rhinelander | Brunswick obviously isn't under the same management as it was then, and currently owns several boat companies. I would expect the boat builders to maintain the quality they have worked so hard to achieve, and look to increase their market share across the board.

Member Posts: 67 Location: Sth/side Chicago | My question is what about the motor choice thing? Crestliner and Lund were always big on giving you that choice. You could get yourself one with a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Merc/OMC-Bombardier. Are they gonna end that now? Never cared for that 1 brand thing whether it was a Lowe/Sea Nymph with a OMC or a Smokercraft with a Merc.I know it doesn't change a thing with the tillers of course, but what about the console boats?....

Like they do for Yamaha and OMC or will they have to wait for contracts to finish for this season to start up again? This will be great for all Mercury owners on RCL trail that make the Championship Michael Dutton

It was interesting to me that Genmar would unload profitable companies like that, but then it was not a shock to read they want to streamline into only glass constriction. This is a very interesting turn of events and one that will be fun to watch as it grows into th future. Here is also hoping this transition does not shed any jobs along the way for current employees! Member Posts: 158 Location: Upper Sandusky Ohio | I have to say this about Brunswick. They own the Trophy line of boats. I have talked to numerous Trophy owners in addition to myself and they also have nothing but praise for these boats. I would almost bet the quality will be maintained, and pricewise be made more affordable to the general public.

Member Posts: 87 Location: Fond du Lac | I think the RCL is ran by FLW outdoors and the major sponsor being Wal-Mart ,why not the FLW Wal-Mart Tour. These companies don't really need a guy called Irwin Jacobs to keep this going.

Member Posts: 158 Location: Upper Sandusky Ohio | I don't feel a major tour should limit participants purely because of the boat they own. It's no different than having the B.S.S tour. That's the Bomber,Storm,Smithwick Tour. All you can use is those 3 baits or you can't fish it. No different.

As a Crestliner owner this would bother me except that I fish the BFL , too. So one way or the other I will be fishing with FLW outdoors for a while. I have to say I have lousy timing. I signed up for the last three RCL venues about 2 days before this all happened and I would have just left it with the Spring Valley tourney. Since the only reason I'm fishing it is to get one more year in as a co-angler to prepare for moving up to the Pro division this year may be pretty much a waste. I sure can't afford a Ranger for next year. I know on this and other forums folks have said it will stay the same due to contracts for years to come, but coming form the national racing scene I have to say that any stock company will only stay if they feel it is in their best interest to,(stockholders), regardless of contracts. In auto racing ,at least, companies have felt that the losses from breaking a contract we more acceptable than continuing to honor the contract. I guess time will tell. I can only hope that FLW,(RCL),since it appears to be a very highly respected organization in tourney fishing will suit Brunswick. Who knows maybe the RCL is one of the reasons the sale went through. I hope so.

Member Posts: 188 Location: Westland, Mich. | ralph: it's my understanding that genmar want's to do more r&d with the roplene plastic that they use on the triumph boats. as it stands now i think it would be a hard sell to go across the board and use that plastic(i'm told by people who know, that it is basicly ground up milk bottles, that material but processed differently)and put it on all the non-tin boats in their line. i would'nt be suprised to see thiumph become one of the tour boats just to get more credibility and increase sales.

Member Posts: 714 | I first heard of Triumph this last summer, and looked into them, at least on the internet. They seem alot more like a fish-n-ski design than a serious fishing design. They did have some large livewells in them though. I understand they are liked on the gulf coast in Texas, but I seriously think they will need to come up with some fresh designs if they want to be a serious player in our walleye market.

Member Posts: 363 Location: Kaukauna WI | I talked to Sonny at FLW on Monday he informed me that there are contracts in place for next couple years so the RCL will go on. I personally believe that it will be not a smart move on Brunswick to make changes in formats that has sold so many boats over last few years really quick. Remember all that this is a business to make money for when it was Genmar or now Brunswick. So let all have dust settle and let transaction finish before rumor mill goes wild. I think the main reason this sale took place was >>> that $200 million dollars that Genmar received. ![]()
