I like 2nd and 3rd. The farther away from the "WITCH" of November the better I like it.

I've made the walleyecentral get together the last two years and had a blast each time. I guess it wouldn't be that difficult to make one for this site too. It looks like my tourneys are done by the first of October, so anytime after that is o.k. with me.

Trophy,

There is a new fly in the ointment, which will have alot to do with when and what we can expect from Vermillion.

Well That only means 1 thing guy's. I'm going to be fishing Vermillion at least 3 times in October. Is anyone opposed to the 1st thru the 3rd of October? The 9th is the Huron Boosters Club Tourny, and the 16th would be the following. Someone posted that back to back weeks with us and Walleyecentral may not be a good thing. We also have a commitment from Lazyeye for helping us out. Thanks Mike. What works for you guys??

P.S. I 'll get in touch with someone in Huron, and see if we can get some sort of deal. They will want something to fill the Vaccuum Walleyecentral will be leaving. At least I would think they would.

That is a great idea Kevin Im sure Huron would want to do something, I would check with Gary and see what connections he has since he does live in that area. These dates are fine with me, after fishing Huron the past 4 or 5 years Im already excited, the walleye run big there in Oct. It can be truly phenominal. And the idea of being able to fish more than 1 tourney really gets me going but thats just me, I love the competition, and I love fishing this time of year when the weather cooperates, and I love the feel of a 10-11-12 lb walleye on the end of my line---and I have to think everyone loves that feeling---lol

I'll be honest.

I was a little disapointed Jul's locked the post before I saw it. It's taken me 2 years to learn the in's and out's at Huron and get familliar with the area. Moving it 25 miles down the beach was not a welcomed move I favored. I will probably go to the get-together in Vermillion, but will continue to stay at the River Side Motel and fish out of huron. Me and my partner voluntarily missed the fun tourney weigh-in last year because we were on fish when it was scheduled. So attending the banquet in Vermillion and catching some fish out of Huron will have top priority this fall as well.

Yes it is. I got confirmation from the City of Vermillion stating such. They gave me the heads up so we knew in advance of the WC event.

Yo Cuz, I beg to differ with you on the distance between Huron and Vermilion. It's more like 5 or 6 miles is all. Vermillion offers better ramps, parking and they are putting in permanent fish cleaning places at several locations. Dockage will be available for those that want to stay in the water. There are more choices for eating and Den's is a couple of blocks from the ramps. One stop shopping for your license and lures when you hit town. In October the fishing out in front of Vermillion is the place you want to be. The City of Vermillion made us an offer to good to turn down. The city of Huron never offered or provided a thing in 7 yrs of being there. It was folks like Carl, Kathy and Messinburgs that helped keep us there.
There will probably be more than a few people who will still room over in Huron, which is no problem since Vermillion isn't that far away!

We're glad you will still attend, and look forward to seeing you there.

Rick

Hey Cuz, Rick.

Didn't mean any offense or to lesson both yours and Jul's effort for helping year after year with one great get-together. And seen that indeed more people wanted the change to Vermillion than didn't. I saw somebody post that the water miles versus the road miles were almost doubled if you wanted or needed to fish in the same area near Huron.

About how far out would you guess a guy has to go to get into some walleye off Vermillion? I sure liked that 2 1/2 mile trip straight out the Huron last year to be successful. And are there any Motels as close and convenient to the ramps as Huron is? I do like the fish cleaning availabilty though. Isn't that where you and Jul's went out perching last year on the first day?

Dan,
We will have a list soon, of all the hotels, restaurants, baitshops, and the 4 ramps that have the new fish cleaning facilities, etc.

All the ramps will be right on the Vermillion River too. We were finding fish only 2-3 miles out of the mouth of the Vermillion River, and steelhead right outside the breakwall at the mouth of the river. The BIG perch however, were about 1 mile NNW of the mouth.

Water miles are not doubled, I would have to call Den to get an exact number on the miles, but I'm guessing it is around 8 miles by water to the mouth of the Huron River, from the mouth of the Vermillion River.

You know what they say, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line....that's something you can do on water, so that means that the miles couldn't be doubled.

Have a great day! We will post all the information when we get it from the city of Vermillion in a few weeks.

Again, it doesn't really matter where you stay...the towns are close enough that you can go back and fourth without any hassles. Heck, Rick and I will be driving from home everyday (Port Clinton), so you guys have it easy. LOL

Juls
