Starting off slow last night proved awarding for my patience. Of the dozen or so Walleyes I caught 4 were keepers and I took 3 home for dinner. Interesting enough I could not still figure a steady tactic... Stopped by the boat area under Mexicali Rose on my way home to try a few more casts and saw Bluegills and Carp were spawning and a huge Beaver did not like me being around so he kept splashing with his paddletail ferrociously on the surface. I hooked into something of really respectable size, that took my Husky Jerk about 10ft away from shore and no more than 30ft away from me while I was running a really slow retrieve with no sudden twitches. Spooled me twice(I need to put some new line as there is almost nothing left after all the break-offs so it was easy for the fish to run 25-30 yds at a time) and spit it out Well I hope I catch him next time. "Invented" a new recipe last night! LOL. Grilled my Walleye with seasoned salt and lemon juice and cooked some rice with chopped green onions and peppers simmered with butter and of course garlic and soy sauce! WOW that stuff served with plain yogurt was just finger-licking good! ;)

Sounds pretty good, sir. I regularly grill walleye fillets during the summer. When using a charcoal grill, try this. Just before the fillets are ready to remove, drop a few pieces of birch bark on the coals and close 'er back up for a couple minutes. Pretty yummy.

Before you put anything on the grill! Once the irons are sorching enough split a head of onion and scrub it against the irons. Can't beat that aroma! ;)
