Member Posts: 30 | The Rod Meseberg Walleye Tournament was held over the weekend at Potholes Reservoir near Moses Lake, WA. 139 teams were ready for blast-off Saturday morning. A slight front moved through during the first few hours of fishing on Friday but quite a few teams were still able to bring some good baskets to the scale. Sunday, the wind finally picked up a little and the bite seemed to improve for many and the rest enjoyed the sudden freedom from the bugs. The team of Rick Sutherland and Tom Morrow won the event with a 2-day total of 40.80 lbs. Stan and Jarrad Romig followed with 35.82lbs and Stan's brother Steve and his daughter Lindsey took 3rd with 34.40 lbs. Steve and Lindsey also found Sunday's big fish of 8.60 lbs. Bill Smigay and Tim Smigay brought a 9.96 lb walleye to the scale on Saturday for that day's big fish. The next tournament in the Circuit will be held at Banks Lake May 22 & 23rd.

I fished the bay on Sat. Only caught 1 big walleye but I believe I had the state record on. I hooked this fish and fought it for over 1/2 mile. I thought by then it was tired out but it got off by the boat. I don't think I had a large enough net for the job. I've caught several fish in the past that were true trophy's but this one that got away was larger than anything I ever hooked by far! She's still swimming out there somewhere and I beefed up my equipment so I will be better prepared when this 3 foot plus fish hits again. I can't wait to get out there and relocate this freak of nature!

Member Posts: 26 | Fished Lake Mendota with my son and his friend Sunday! 2" snow flakes, graphite rods buzzing, and the kids still wanted to stay out! Decide to head to safer places when the reels began to snap! After pulling the 3rd board off, this 27.5" Walleye decided to energize our day. CPR and back into the lake for this spawner! Another great day to educate the next generation on the conservation of this inland fiah hatchery! Tight Lines! Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Member Posts: 50 | I've had a nice break from the eyes for the last 2 days. Small mouth fishing. It was just fantastic. My personal best 6 fish yesterday would have easily been over 25 pounds. Small cranks or tubes. There starting to set up around the beds now. I think I can safey say that in the last 2 days we've caught and released close to a 125 large and small mouth. We also hit one spot about the size of 3 pickups and my 2 clients easily pulled 35 large mouth with a couple of them over 4 lbs. But I did have to catch my first doggy of the year. But I guess the turtles gotta eat too. Hutch

We hit Vilas and did pretty good. Had a limit each day by moving lake to lake, with many of the lakes at 3 or less we had to move around to fill our bag limit. Most were males about 16 to 18".
