| I love a good SE wind on Long Point. Usually not too many boats, and I'm able to slipbobber over the reef. I'll anchor off an inside turn, set the stops for 4, 6, and 8 feet, and let them run into the reef. When the fish tell me what depth they like, I'll change the other stops to match.
I used to do pretty good with my old Tuffy tiller, when I could get up on the reef, and pull #5 Shad Raps right on top. Harder to do with the new boat, but I haven't given it much time like that. Last year, when the reef was full of boats, we caught fish trolling off it in 8-14 feet with Wally Divers, and Hot n Tot's. Seems the pressure on top pushed the fish off a little, and they were willing biters. |
