I caught the news last night here in Minnesota, and there were several people that got caught with 93 walleyes over there limit!!! It is scum like this that ruins it for everyone!!! Just glad they nabed them, but they only loose there licence for three years, that is pathetic, and a fine too!! Here is the whole article from the Minneapolis Startribune:

Without a hook, line or sinker, a Lino Lakes police officer netted a trunkful of walleyes on Tuesday.

Adam Halverson also nabbed four Minneapolis men and a juvenile, all charged with gross misdemeanor overlimit in Anoka County.

The routine traffic stop for speeding turned fishy when Halverson noticed a stench coming from the car, said Travis Muyres, a conservation officer with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

"He opened the trunk and figured that there were probably a few too many fish for the five people in the car," Muyres said Friday.

The haul tallied 117 fish. Four of the five people had fishing licenses, he said, so legally they were able to have 24 walleyes.

"And each of these fish were 18 to 21 inches long," Muyres said. "These were perfect eating fish. They were the ones people want."

93 walleyes over the limitThanks to an overlimit law that took effect in March 2003, he said, the suspects forfeited their fishing licenses for three years and were charged with gross misdemeanors.

If they had been hauling a boat, officials would have had the right to seize it.

Investigators searching the Minneapolis home where three of the suspects live also found 305 sunfish in a freezer. That's 145 more than is allowed for the eight people who live there, Muyres said.

Investigators plan to present a criminal case in connection with those fish to Hennepin County prosecutors, he said.

"This is a good catch," Muyres said of the arrests. "But this was just by chance and an alert officer. Who knows how many people out there don't get caught?

"These people knew the laws and the limits," he added. "And now they know the consequences."
