The lower unit seal on my '95, 2 cycle, 9.9 H, Mercury kicker motor is leaking. Is this something that is easily fixed. I would like to get it going again quickly, but I know if I contact someone to repair it, the boat will be out of the water for the next week. Keep in mind, I'm not exactly "Mr. Goodwrench" here.

thanks

How bad is the leak? Can you just fill every few outings or is it worse than that? This would be a banbdage type repair and not meant to be any where near perminant. It might get you through a weeks vacation but dont trust it very long. It is leaking for a reason, usually line gets wrapped around these and cuts into them. When you think you have line wrapped in it, get it off NOW. Just pull the line with mtr in nuteral and it will spin right off. SO>>>Get owners shop manual and a new seal, punch out old one, be care full not to scratch the shaft, install new one. Not to complicated, put oil on the shaft first so you dont damage the new seal. Change seal as soon as you can. an hour off is better than days or weeks and big bucks in the shop. If the leak is bad, if you have to fill very often better change it now or the lower unit later. Good luck
