Subject: Gas tank problem

I have a strange problem, I have a built-in 24 gallon gas tank and an outboard. The two are connected with the traditional gas line with the rubber squeeze bulb. My problem is I cant get the gas to come up the gas line, the bulb collapses when I squeeze it and it wont "pop" back out and no gas comes up the line. Ive tried it both connected and disconected from motor. It seemes like there is a vacume or something that wont let gas come in line...any ideas? Thanks

It sound's like they may be a problem with the bulb itself or a leak in the line.

Good Luck

There is valves within the bulb that make it work or not.

My motor kept dying at idle speed occasionally and I would have to re pump the bulb. This is on an efi. I replaced my bulb and the problem was solved. that is what I would try because it is only like a $5 fix. It would be a smart first step for sure before worrying about fuel pumps and the like.

You need a new pump bulb.
I carry an extra, just in case you away when it goes.

All onboard tanks have a check valve (Coast Guard regulations, stops fire from spreading rapidly) built into the line as well. It may be a bad check valve. The bulb is easy to test, if that doesn't get it, then the check valve needs to be replaced.
