Well walleye fishing has taken a drastic slow down, at least for me in the classic areas. With little or no flow the fish have moved from the usual areas, wing dams and rock piles. I have been skunked the last two times out for eyes which is a big change from the 2 weeks ago where you could go out and catch a dozen legal eyes. The flow is none right now. I feel like I am fishing in the Petenwell flowage in mid summer with the algea bloom. Where these fish have gone is beyond me. The only way to find out it spend more time on the water, I hate it when I have to do that. Good Luck, Bear

Member Posts: 105 | Have you tried fishing some of the more currented/necked down back sloughs? These areas will concentrate the flow and along with the flow come the bait fish. I have a few spots like this, that when things slow on the channels, I can pick up fish in this spots. If these spots have wood in them, all the better. Troll cranks through the wood, throw plastics at them and try willow cats in those areas and I think you will be supprised at what you find. TOLDEN

Member Posts: 1188 Location: Chicago IL. | Sounds like a repeat of last year. You get the feeling of fishing a flowage. Main channel rock piles would get my attention. Bear, are you fishing the WAT there? John Mannerino #473

Member Posts: 96 Location: Trempealeau, WI | John, The club is located on what I call front street. Instead of going across the railroad tracks to the landing take a right before the tracks follow it down past the pond and the club is on the left. See ya there. Bear

Fish will be fairly shallow. Pull cranks. In pool 13, every clambed we fish has at lease a few eyes on them. Some beds have a bunch. Good luck. Marv

Member Posts: 96 Location: Trempealeau, WI | Thanks for the info Marv. I will have to check out some of my spring clam beds out. They were on my list to try but so much water and so little time. Thanks, Bear

Member Posts: 12 | FYI the final WAT tournament is on those same pools that weekend. Is that Pools 5a & 6 or Pools 6 & 7 where the Boundaries of the Tournament are? September 25 - 26, 2004 The Dubuque Advertiser Walleye Challenge MISSISSIPPI RIVER Trempealeau, Wisconsin Sat. 7 am-4 pm / Sun. 7 am-2 pm Lock & Dam Boat Ramp It seams like it starts @ Dam 6 so pools 5a above & 6 below, would they go Pat Dam 7 to Pool 7 then? I could try to give a heads up to the club outing to steer clear. Thanks It looks Like they HAD 31 & 35 & 36 BOATS AT THERE PRIOR THREE EVENTS with the normal this could be crowded? Member Posts: 1188 Location: Chicago IL. | Thw W.A.T. boundries are 1 pool up and 1 pool down and between the rr bridges. We launch out the the dam launch in Tremplo. Unless the river is at normal pool, the ramp there is a little rough, with only 1 lane open last year. Hrs are 7-4 on sat and 7-2 on sun. If all ramps are open unloading and loading should go fast.
