Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | I need some ideas on mounting a couple of down riggers on a skeeter zx 2050.Here is what I was thinking about doing.I was going to take the 2 back cleats off and mounting a versa mount and attaching a 2x8 to that and then put the riggers and a few rod holders on too. Here is the question will the board be in the way of the t8 kicker. The tiller handle seems to be a little close when trimmed up.I dont want to mount the board on the rails that are already on the boat seems like alot of weight for the rails to handle.Any help would be great.Thanks.

Member Posts: 3899 | Risor, If you want, I will send you a couple pics of my setup on my Lund Salmon Angler SS. I used a 2X6 engineered lumber to mount my riggers. I used Titelock mounting hardware I had left from my last boat. It works great, and installs and removes in minutes. Let me know if you need a closeup look, and we could maybe get out after some Ocean fish, and you can see how it all works together. Here is a link for one picture. http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1... Edited by Shep 9/10/2004 8:38 AM

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Thanks Shep.Don't know if I can make a trip this year anymore the kids being in school and all.And I do work weekends.I have a few ideas as to how and where I'm going to mount my riggers.I may just leave the board off and buy a few rodholders for my down riggers and use the scotties I have on already.I'm in no hurry to get them mounted so I'll take my time.I did take her out on the big pond after some salmon and put a couple in the boat.Dipsies,lb.balls and snap weights that are now on the bottom of the lake thanks to a rainbow flying through the air like a bird.God that was fun.Leadcore will be the next weapon next year.

I have a 1950 and what I did was bought 2 stainless flush mnt. rod holders the straight ones. Drilled a 2'' hole or 2.25'' I cant remember how big they are and mounted them between where the stainless rail ends and the cleat on the back of the boat is. then I made a bracket to hold the downrigger I think it was 1.75'' round stock to go into the roldholder then a small piece of flat plate welded to it that the downrigger base bolts to. To beef up the bottom of the rod holder inside the side of the boat remove the small access cover on the inside of the boat I took 2 pieces of 2x4 about 6 '' long drill a hole in 1 of them the same size as the rod holder, screw it to the top of the other one and epoxied it to that flat piece behind the livewell this stops the bottom of the rod holder from moving . Some of my buddies go with the board across the back but you lose room to net fish and it is hard to get in the compartments. I made a little groove in the round stock bottom so when in the rod holder it wouldn't turn. It sounds complicated but it is nice to be able to take them on and off in a second and the rod holders can be just that when your not downrigging.

Member Posts: 185 Location: Port Washington, wisconsin | Shep; I'm looking for a similar setup on my Lund 1775. Where can you purchase the mounts that attatch to the boat? Thanks in advance.

Member Posts: 3899 | The mounts are TiteLock. I had a set of TiteLok triple rod holders from my last boat. Used the mounting plates from them. Had to make two of the flat plates for under the board. Stainless TNuts hold them to the board. I'd call TiteLok and tell them what you need. I'm sure they would sell just the parts. Edited by Shep 9/22/2004 5:51 PM
