Member Posts: 171 | It's funny you guys brought up the rock bass tourney. There are a few of us that are thinking of having an all species tourney on Saginaw Bay next summer. A one day event, bring your biggest 6 fish to the scales, no more than 3 of any one species.....that could be ALOT of fun on the bay.. Imagine a couple 25# carp, thrown in a couple huge cats and some hog eye's.

Or I'd simply take my jet boat into the Hot ponds, and come to the scales with some serious Carp and Catfish tonnage. Keep me posted on this tournament idea. Member Posts: 171 | Yeah, at least 2 walleyes. Reasonable entry fee? The details would take a minute to work out. I wonder how many would really enter? Sure would make iot more fun when you hook into one of those big carp or cats! Can you imagine gingerly playing one of those monsters PRAYING it wouldn't come undone?

There are many more guys at the ramps who complain all they can catch are Cats and sheeps, than the guys who limit daily on walleyes. Give these same guys the chance to at least weigh 4 fish (even without the two walleyes included) in any contest, and they'd love it. I'd also bet you could get some positive support from the businesses and sports shops in the area, for an all inclusive tourney like this versus the (actually narrower field) that the walleye tourneys attract. Really. Edited by walleye express 10/22/2004 9:04 PM

Member Posts: 714 | As long as Dan would offer me a seat in his boat, I'd come from Minnesota just to fish it.......well, I'd want to swing past Geano's also for some of that white fish sausage and a few chubs too!!

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Jack. Heading to Franks Great Outdoors today for a few more Reef Runners, for my upcoming Huron Ohio trip. Might as well stop by Geno's Fish House for my weekly (Smoked Chubby & Sausage) fix.:) Hey.... did that come out right? That may be why I get the "Fish Eye" from new people when I ask them that question. Edited by walleye express 10/23/2004 8:14 AM

Member Posts: 714 | Dan, if you see this post before you head over to Franks, do me a favor and ask them at Geno's if they ever over night ship stuff to people. I seriously might think about ordering some fish for them to send. Edited by JLDII 10/23/2004 8:40 AM

Member Posts: 300 Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | I've pondered doing the same thing, except with just game and pan fish, no bottom feeders. To lever the field between species, I'd use a multiplying factor based on average weight and legal limit of a certain species. Such as, just an example: Muskie x1, pike x1.3, bass and walleye x1.5, rockbass and perch x3, and so on. Could make for some interesting combo's.

Give them a call and see what you can do. 1-989-697-4450. Good luck.

I never really told you how much I enjoyed that meal you cooked. Guess I was burned out a little from all the driving and fishing during the week leading up to that meal, but that was great. Thanks buddy!

If you take this thing farther than the idea stage, I'll help as much as I can during that time to promote it with some of the local sports shops, marinas and internet sites I have influence at and on. I know Franks would let me mention it on my fishing reports I do for them, and that gets a ton of hits per day during the summer season. Can't say rather I'd be able to actually fish it though, as charters come first. But if I coud, I certainly would. And Jack. Don't give that smelt meal a second thought. I gave Rick, his partner Pete and two of their tournament buds an even bigger spread when they were in town. There are fewer things I personally enjoy more, than showing off my cooking prowess to good friends. It's one of the ways and things my dad always did with people (friends or strangers) we would meet on our fishing excursions. Also talked to the people at geno's (went back for more Cajun Whitefish sausage) and they'll Fresh-Freeze and ship you anything UPS. Edited by walleye express 10/24/2004 11:20 AM
