I'd like to thank Dennis Skulruski and Stephen Smithberger and all their sponsors for a great time last week a couple of days. I was fortunate enough to join them in an annual ritual in Michigan on Big and Little Bays de Noc.

Weather was forcasting rain and wind and there were very few people on the water it was nice to get some Mamouth Walleyes, the biggest being 29". Dennis, you are a great person and a joy to be around (would have been nice to see that 33.5"er that was caught).

I recommend anyone interested in learning more about Walleye fishing to give them a call. Your experience on the water will be one of the best you ever had. It's not my place to give out the where and hows but I can tell you that if you can see your shadow, you will catch fish!

I learned many more tactics to apply on my home waters that I know very few people actually do here and If the results are anything like what we experienced up there, this will again will be another tool to put more fish in my boat.

Please thank our landlord for me as his accomodations were first rate! You guys Rock!

Good Luck
Tyee
P.S. It would be great if you could write an article about some of these tactics would that be of interest to anyone?

Thank you for the kind words gentlemen.

The tactics that we used are in fact spelled out in the article that Steve references.

Tyee, you're welcome in our boat anytime!

As a side note, when we were preparing to leave for our first evening of fishing I asked Tyee what his biggest fish was. He told me that he caught a 30+ inch fish out of Erie and the second was something like 7 pounds. You should have seen the look on his face when I told him that I could not guarantee that we would break his best that night but that I was confident that he would catch his second best. That 29 incher was a beauty that was caught in very tough conditions. Congrats Tyee!!

We'll break your personnal best next time.................. guaranteed !!!!

Nice article Dennis. Sorry we missed you Thursday. We went to big Bay to avoid crowds. I guess we missed a huge bite as a friends boat got 32 Thursday night. We caught most of our fish going 2.0- 2.2 mph GPS with that 50+ degree water using leadcore. Don't be afraid of speed with these aggressive fish when not under cold front conditions. Didn't see you Friday or anyone else for that matter. Lucky to be able to see my boatmates in that fog. Love that big screen GPS. I hope everyone gets a shot at these CPR hogs in the Great Lakes as it has only just begun and it improves with colder weather. When asking Naomi at Bayshore what the ideal surface temp was she said "39 is devine". We have a ways to go.
