The walleyes are pretty active from the Boom Bay Cut-off up to just below Boom Island. Gazillions of YOY darts with a few eaters mixed in. Today was a memorable day to fish the river for November, nice weather, and active fish. Use a stinger to hook-up with more. It is still to early to put the boat away guys.

I am jealous! I am in town for the rest of the week from college, but my dad put the boat away for the year. I will probably head to Manitowoc to try for some Steelies, unless someone has room in their boat for an eager fisherman! Thanks guys

Boom Bay is on the NE corner of Poygan and boom island is about halfway up river between Orihulla and the mouth of the river where it enters the lake. Keep a date open in the spring and I'll show ya!
Good Luck

Captain Walleye

Are the walleyes by Boom Bay feeding in the deep holes, adjacent to them, or in straight aways up river? I have been fishing the Big Eddy in N.L. the last couple of weekends. Two weekends ago, I caught 8 keepers and last week only 2. Thanks for the report.

From what I have heard from people, the fish are biting light, but they are there. Does anybody need a partner to hit the Wolf this weekend? I will be home from college for the weekend and would love to do a little fishing! Let me know, I will pay for gas and bait!

FYI: This morning when I arrived at work, Friday, the river was froze all the way across, just below Fremont. It looks thin and will probably move with the warming temps. BUT, This may be the last weekend.

Thanks for the report, Stacker.

BTW, Made it out last sunday for a few hours. We had some technical difficulties. Partner boated one beautiful musky sucker and 1 eater eye. Should of been here yesterday was the story of the river. Will bust ice to get out once more this year.

Was out on the river yesterday. Ice starting to make it tough getting through the river. Small fish mostly being caught. I think it is time for winterizing the boat.

I live in Oshkosh and we have had pretty nice weather lately. Fairly warm nights to where I can't imagine ice since the lake has no ice at all. I can't say much about the fishing since I haven't gone lately but you should be fine. Bring some salt/sand mix for the ramp would be my only clue. Good Luck Bob

Fished for 6 hrs. on the 8th from Orihula to the mouth. The Ice was slim to none and the water temp is 34 degree's. The fish were, well, lets just say they musta ate at night because they certainly weren't to anxious to crush my offerings. Had one fish pick up the bait and that was it. However, they are there. I will be back out as much as possible until ice up. Good luck.

Stacker or others, email me if you ever need another experienced angler to go with/help with costs. I as well will be there till ice up. My address is: [email protected].

I went out last Saturday and caught two with a third up half way (nice eater size). Had several other light bites. It took awhile to find them, but once I did it was every float.

Fished saturday the 11th with a good friend. Very light biters, stingers would of been the ticket, no stingers on the boat. We landed 3 walleyes from 13-18", two suckers perfect for muskies, and a sturgeon in the mid 40's.

With the weather forcast it looks to be all but over for open water this year.

Good Luck

YUP!, looks all done here in New London too and probably everywhere inbetween. A long strange fall bite (for bigger fish) as I ran in to some good pockets of fish (and I fished from Poygan to above New London Oct - Dec but never found them really stacked tight like some years. That is unless you were on a stack of dinks, man they could keep you busy some days, especially from Orihula to Poygan. I had my best days fishing in the rain, you know, pry bar to open a lid type of rain and temperatures. Caught some dandy catfish in the New London area right until ice up too. Mostly channels 2 - 4 pounds, but a couple of MUCH bigger ones and a few flatheads from 8 - 12 pounds that all went back. Still a good fall of walleye fishing on the Wolf River and plenty of great memories. Looks like it's College basketball time and on to the Wisconsin, or maybe the Mississippi or Illinois if I get the itch and can afford to stratch it.
