Being both a Cabela's and Bass Pro fan, considering what specific product and recent fishing needs I have at the time. I've noticed through the years (and after one heck of a lot of money spent at both outlets), I'd be afraid to know the actual amount. But it seems Cabela's is less inclined to offer as many buying incentives as Bass Pro. So I was surprised to receive in the mail yesterday, an actual (serious) money savings coupon from the Giant Retailer. It's their first ever year-end inventory sale. And it offers to take $30.00 of any $100.00 order through January 9th 2005. So, I'm actually feeling obligated to get the Ol'Catalog out and browse.

Hey, Dave'e. You git any of them thare custom colors intew Cabela's yit?

Bass Pro may seem to provide more incentives......but as with most things you need to read the fine print. Often times Bass Pro's deals are on Bass Pro labeled merchandise.

So who's scammin who?

Actually I've noticed just the opposite - I get more and better offers form Cabelas. I got the $30 offer in the mail yesterday too, I figure it's gonna cost me a couple hundred bucks. I sure hope BPS doesn't have something similar in the works or I'm gonna go broke!!

Yup...

Just got off their site. Spent $100.91. $81.00 total cost to me with the discount. Can't avoid the shipping charges no matter what you do. Finally ordered one of those Ram 70,000 candle powered flood lights. Figured it could accomplish a duel purpose. Use it on my 4 wheeler for ice fishing and on my boat for night trolling. Also ordered a few of those #7 Rapala Tail Dancers for $3.99 each. Damn decent price even without the discount. And lastly, some Rip Cord Fluorescent ThermoFused line. 300 yards for $6.99? Fish-on.

Hey, Butch.

I thought the wife was a pretty good deal 26 years ago. The jury is still out on that one.

Mine....I'm guessing Butch isn't old enough yet to have been married for 26 years.

I can never equate the name Butch as being anybody over 25.

You guys need to do a better job on the "wife training". My wife handed me the coupon almost as soon as I walked in the door from work. Either she's well trained or she's decided that I'm untrainable.

Hey Dan, I got that same coupon myself. In the fine print, it says starting date is December 20. They actually let you use it before Monday?

Rod Holder.

Ya, I sent them an e-mail, because the actual starting (fine print) date for the discount isn't until the 20th of December. A nice gal named Debra, mailed me back that the discount was indeed good even at this early date, and was deducted from my order. So all the stars have alligned once again for Capt: Dan.

Oh, and welcome aboard.

I think that I had posted once or twice here before but never as a registered user. Thought I ought to get myself signed up finally. I think I just learned a small lesson in being assertive. I read that fine print and thought it meant what it said. Meanwhile, Cabela's had put their guidewear on sale, bibs, parkas, and jackets. I got my own set early last summer and used it this fall on Erie. (you know where) Son and I stopped at the Dundee Cabela's on the way home and I had him try on the bibs and parka. After seeing the guidewear on sale, I did call Cabela's to ask them when the sale would end. No set time. The answer seemed to be, "When they sell out." Maybe it's time for a new edition of guidewear so the older has to go. I decided to get my son his set finally but was concerned the green might sell out prior to Dec. 20 so I settled for triple points as they had sent me that promotional letter. I'll order some more stuff prior to the expiration date and get the $30 off as well as being able to use my accumulated Cabela's points.

I live in Kansas City, MO and we are going to be the first market that is going to have both a bass pro and a cabelas. I am excited at the prospect of a price war.

Walleye Rich.

Guess I'm not sure what you mean by Market. Beause we have both now in the Detroit area, along with a Gander Mountain in Saginaw. And ever time I mention visiting the other for a better price, they say don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

I have not dealt a whole lot with Cabelas but have had unbelievable deals given to me by Bass Pro. When they were clearing out all the Tots, I bought a few hundred and they gave me .25 off each one. Then I went down last year about this time and bought 9 walleye angler series trolling rods and they gave me 1/3rd off each one. Then I bought a Stradic and they threw in a $100 rod for free. None of these deals were advertised. I just told them how much I love the store and that I drove 3 hrs to get there and they gave me the royal treatment. I even stopped there on the way to the MWC Saginaw tourney because my CMC lift had snapped on the highway and they set me up with the tools I needed to fix it. Hands down the best place I have ever bought from!

Just recieved the stuff I ordered from Cabela's. Also recieved another $30.00 coupon with the order. These coupons are not customer specific and say so on the coupon. I don't see me using this one, so if anybody would like to use the numbers for some savings at Cabela's, drop me an e-mail and I'll give the first guy (who will really use it) the coupon numbers of this coupon to use.
