The ice seems to be both solid and ahead of itself from last year. From Nayonquin Point straight across to the man-made island, all the ice South of that imaginary line was flat with no heaves or open water visible, and I used the Bushnels to look it over. Of course that shallow point, directly on and North of Nayonquin, already has tall heaves of ice built up. This shallow shelf always creates this phenomena yearly. There was one guy parked down the ramp and on the ice at Linwood Road, and walked out at least 1 mile, fishing out of a pop up shanty. Also didn't appear to be to much snow on top the ice like last year, when all that early snow and slush barrier made things miserable. I'm thinking even if we get a warm spell now, it won't effect what's already started. It will only get better.;-) ![]() Edited by walleye express 12/26/2004 9:43 AM

Location: Rhinelander | The DNR here has issued a warning not to drive on the lakes yet because of the snow cover. I'll be out today seeing exactly how much ice we have!

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | When am I coming out Dan (/quote) Jack. I hope when you say coming out, we're talking about fishing here. ![]() ![]() You and Rick L. get your heads together, and figure out the window of opportunity in your perspective schedules, then give me a time frame. Like to see it be a couple days to allow for any cancelization due to bad weather or dangerous off shore winds. We sometimes have to cross up to three cracks going out, and any off-shore winds can be dangerous. It would be hard to jump them towing two big lugs like you and Rick in my dog sled. ![]() ![]() And Rob. You gotta send me your phone number man. I asked for it before, when you showed interest in night fishing the Saginaw. Your close enough to me to go on short notice right? Lot's of times I get a wild hair, and nobody to go with. I have a list of buds that I call one after the other, and lots of times none can go. But I'll need your number to add you to the list. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by walleye express 12/27/2004 9:07 AM
