Location: upper michigan | I was wondering why none of the tournament organizations have tried to start a tournament series in upper michigan some great walleye waters are not being utilized and some are but only as part of a wisconsin series or Lower Michigan series. Lake Gogebic in western upper penisula has an outstanding walleye fishery my walleye club held an outing there last year and for 90 percent of us it was the first time we fished there. No really big walleye's but several pushing the 23 inch mark. The winning team weighed 4 fish for 11.90 pounds. Lets not forget the kewanaw water way the pwt visited the last 2 years. Then you can add on the more known waters of Greenbay off Menominee Michigan and then Big and Little Bays De Noc and The sault river in sault St. Marie. There is also one good sized water shed in Iron county called Way Damn my walleye club hold an anual fishing tournament on this body of water. This water shed has 3 main tributaries and numerous smaller ones. Loads of islands and big bays that are hard to find without exploring. Me and another guy from the walleye club have been thinking about trying to start up 3 tournament series. But i have a few questions what is a fair entry fee where you can still expect an atractive purse? Would many of you guys be interested in a Upper Michigan tournament series? Would any sponsores be interested in a Upper Michigan tournament series? |

| The problem is the location and travel to there and back for most of us. if a single event is held on, say, Little Bay, and is part of a qualifier for a circuit, then it's expected we go. But a circuit JUST in the UP might have trouble filling. Of course, you never know.... |
