"January 22nd. lot's of fish, wrong size!"

morning temps. and with light snow coming down, single digits temps. warming a bit through the day.
Northwest winds were gusting before lunch time so felt great be tucked into our portable Frabill Shanties watching the underwater world! Our group from Manhatten, IL. were ready and having some good ice fishing experience so they knew what to look for.
With tip-up sets we again were working water depths close to 30 feet adjacent to shallow breaklines. Lot's of wind today and makes for a tough day of watching tip-ups, so setting close to the shanties many times allows fish moving through taking a look at our jigging presentations to another option, a live minnow!
We did catch a bunch of undersize Walleye again whiling jigging a variety of spoons and Raps, tipped and plain. Did catch an 18 inch Walleye late afternoon using a Buckshot Rattle Spoon tipped with a small head hooked minnow as well loosing one about 21 inches at the hole.
Most bites today were slow presentations, lots of fish present and moving through just not hungry.
Tomorrow is another day and our guys will ready again for a fun day on the ice!
Those venison steak sandwichs and home-made Chili seems too get everyone on the up-swing!
The addition of a few inches of snow throughout the night along with the blowing winds today there is drifting going on both in the upper and lower Bays. Using good judgement and all you anglers should be just fine.
Got several emails shot to me this evening from open-water clients out on the ice today doing about as we did, lots of fish seen but not "icing" those right ones. It's time to sit back, "reflect" of the day and get some sleep, we'll see all of you on the ice tomorrow!
Be safe and enjoy the fun, Marty

Marty,
Thanks for the report. Any pike action on the Bay right now?
