Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | This is purely speculation on my part. What I can tell you is there was a lot of water standing as well as soaking the turf in the marsh areas just before freeze up, so there is moisture there allready. When it froze, it froze hard and then we got snow to keep it from evaporating. This should help in the flooding of said areas when it thaws. Lets hope for more snow as there is some up north but very little left around here to fill the river. On the other hand, during the last thaw, fremont opened about 1/4 way across the river.

Member Posts: 1406 | Stacker, Don't forget the core is going to be keeping the water levels 6" below what they have in the past through June this year!!! Anyone else been involved in these discussions? Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | I understand that they will be keeping the level down but if we get enough snow, or run off in general, they can only dump water just so fast. That will keep it pooled up in the marshes. Just lets hope that they dont leave the gates open to long like they did last year.

If we get an average spring and it doesn't warm too quickly, it could be a textbook year.
