Location: Menasha, WI | Over the last few weeks I've been hitting a different area each time in order to try a locate some fish. Since no one has been doing very well, I've been fishing areas that no one is fishing. Today it paid off. No walleyes but I hit the smallmouth JACKPOT this morning; 4 fish landed including my personal best ever at 19", another at 17", and two at 15". All the smallies were caught jiggin' a smallish minow tipped spoon within thirty minutes after sunrise. I lost two others and had several tip-ups run and drops. Later in the morning I had some fun with eelpout too.
I was hoping to catch a nice meal this morning, but the adrenaline rush was a great substitute. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I keep hearing of an increasing population of smallies on the big lake. Might have to spend some time trying them next summer. Great job Viking!!! |

Location: Byron, IL | A few years back, I was in a USFA Team Walleye Tourney on Winnebago. I was trolling Hot and Tots and and all of a sudden, all four of my boards went back at the same time...I thought I had hooked bottom, but I saw fish jumping from behind the boards...When all was said and done, I had four smallies in the boat...biggest being 20 inches. The other three ranged from 16 inches to 18 inches...Of course, I did not have a camera with me. Pretty exciting. |
