Location: upper michigan | Last year we caught some walleye from 55' of water i forgot my fizzing needle in the hotel room the first fish had no problems and stayed upright in the live well. Our second fish would not stay upright with out a fizzing needle in the boat i started to think how can i keep this fish from going belly up. i hooked a 2 oz snap weight to the anal fin and come time for weigh in the fish was able to keep itself upright. Does anybody else have any coments about fizzing pro and con i would like to learn more about this practice as i know that if done wrong can be just as bad for the fish as if it was not done at all.

| fizzed or unfizzed, any fish brought directly up from 55' of water will have a reduced chance for long term survival. If you are not an experienced fizzer then you'll probably do more damage than good by improper insertion of the fizzing needle. I'd try to avoid those deep fish unless you are taking a few home for the skillet...and there is nothing wrong with that! |

Location: Rhinelander | The use of a hypo or like needle to reduce air bladder pressure from decompression resulting from bringing a fish up from very deep water. This should be pretty close, anyway... |

| I always try to use a snap weight or two attached to the bottom fins to keep the fish upright. They will disperse the air if given enough time. However, sometimes if the fish are sloshing around too much in the livewell and the weights keep falling off I will fizz them, only as a last resort . |
