I'm fortuante enough to have 5 days off this week due to our shift rotation so I've been working on tackle, planer boards, etc all day today in the basement. Is anybody else out there getting ready like me?

I have a checklist I go through to make sure I don't miss anything. New hooks, sharpen hooks, tying spinners, new line on reels, lubricating reels, and organizing tackle bags are just a part of the list.

Anybody have an preseason "get ready" items they would like to share?

Yes, doing a lot of the same things that you are doing...

Got my first tourney next week and I am behind on a few things. I'll be burning the midnight oil as always...

I try to get a few things done each week. Been spending a lot of time in the new Lund Garage just looking her over. I can't wait to hit the Wolf this spring!

I need to get a couple new reels yet, and some hooks, reline about a couple dozen reels, and I'll be pretty much set. Other than buying a bunch more crankbaits. But isn't that always?

I am still waiting on my new Ranger, otherwise this winter stuff is driving me crazy. I am beginning to get ready by doing the same stuff that Jerry is. I can't wait.

Just as important as getting fishing supplies around, its as important to get your boat in top knotch looking condition. Soon Skeeters products will be sold here on WF I am excited about that. Until that happens I will run a special deal for members of WF site. I am NOT sure when the webmaster will have them on a page here but as soon as they do the special will stop and then you can go directly to their page and purchase the products there. So until that happens I wll offer a buck off per bottle (CALL IN ORDERS ONLY) for orders of 4 bottles or more. If you call and I am not at home (fishing leave your number and I will call you back. PLEASE CALL BETWEEN 9 AM AND 9 PM EASTERN TIME. Here is a list and other info you can look at. Skeeter

For me its:
New line on all the walleye rods
Make about 300 jigs, paint them too
new 7 strand leaders in 20#
Crankbaits, need a few new ones
Hook file, need a new one. I use the style that has two chain saw files held together in a wood handle, does a great job making the hook point into a hypo
Check the motor, make sure all is well there
New trolling motor battery, was getting weak last year
Check and recoat with silicone my foull weather gear
waterproof the bills on my new Merc hats

I finally broke down my trolling and rigging rods from last year at Saginaw and Leech. It took that long before I could even look at them again. Ok, back to the subject, I am halfway done with all the preparations for Spring Valley. Just need to stock up on Sluggo's and waxworms.

You forgot Saginaw catfish and Leech northerns. hehehehe I feel your pain........

To me getting ready is a year 'round event.....In my free time, I'm usually tinkering with new ideas and stuff or preparing something or looking over maps of places I'm going or where I've been. But I enjoy going through the fishing stuff and walking and talking and eating and sleeping and breathing fishing. Just ask my wife
