For everybody comming down to the IL river. Make sure your boat has ALL the safety equiptment up to date. The coast guard is patroling the waters and writeing tickets. I had the honor of meeting them on saturday and my day was cut short. My throwable device was defective and my fire ext that read full in my garage 2 days before read empty on the water. After a fire in my boat last year I kinda keep a eye on it. I was in the wrong and accept that, but my fishing day was over. Just a heads up to everybody comming down.

...and be sure you have current valid registration paperwork/certificates with you in the BOAT. They will ask for this and ticket you if you do not have. This is all part of their safety inspections they already have started performing.

John, how is the water level and current right now? With all the snow, I would assume it is above average for this time of year.

Thanks John for the heads up....better do a walk about the boat one more time. Thanks for your offer to help, sorry just checked my mail....check should be coming any-day for the stolen rods and reels and equipment. See you on the water soon.

Water has been high for most of the winter. It was at flood stage last saturday and it dropped 2 feet before I got there. It dropped 2 more feet this week. We CANT get anymore rain or heavy snow. The groung is saturated and anything that falls raises the river big time. All the feeder rivers are still over there banks. If we dont get anymore the bite will be GREAT for the govs cup next weekend. Long range forcast call for a wet month ahead. Hope they are wrong
