I am buying atleast 2 new rods this year. One of them is going to be an avid for sure and the other is either a Bass Pro Walleye Angler or a Legend Tournament. I'm trying to decide what to get for the 2nd rod. Which do you recommend?

Thanks,
Mike

I have been useing the St. Croix avids for my jigging rods for a couple of years now.....can't go wrong with this rod. My catch rate went way up with the feel and sensitivaty while jigging. The Legend Tournament rods that are new for 2005 look like a step between the avids and Elites. I'm planing on buying some Legend Tournament rods for myself, the live bait rigs or lindy rigs.

Personally, if I'm using both rods for the same application, I like to stay with two rods that are the same. I would make them both Avids or both Legend Tournament models.

The LT's are a step up. They use the IPC technology that the LE's use. If sensitivity is critical, get the LT's.

Sounds good Michael. The sensitivity isn't a huge issue with me for the avid because I will mainly be using it for crankbaits. I'll take a look at the legend tournaments for jigging.

I used the Legend Tournaments last fall jigging and rigging and was very please. If the same rod is made in both Avid and Lt I am choosing the Lt. The rod is more sensitive and lighter.

have any of you guys used the Bass Pro Shops Walleye Angler rods desigend by Kavajecz and Parsons? I like them a lot and have 2 myself but I was wondering how they compare to the avid and legend tournament series.

Thanks,
Mike

Give the new Fig Rigs a look. Save a couple bucks, add some performance. These are tough to beat!

That's a second for the Fig Rigs. I have a couple sticks from them, and really like the rods.

Last fall I was tipped off to Quarrow Performance Rods by Bill Ortiz. I have since joined their pro team and even though I haven't fished with these rods they appear to be very good quality. Bill spoke very highly of them and even compared them to his GLoomis rods. If fact he uses them more than his Loomis rods. Do a search for Quarrow Rods, you will find they have differnt lines of their Green County rods. The ML4 series are 57 million modulus graphite and go down from there. You can contact me for more information.
