As for you Jayman, with that new boat of yours running too close behind me you may just get a little wet. Come on Spring Valley. My thoughts on the shotgun start are mixed. Does anybody remember back in the mid 80's when we took off and a Bayliner came through the pack going North to South? THAT was exciting. Last year the guys next to us had a 90 HP and he was surrounded by 225 and 250 HP's. If drivers would realize their limitations it could be better. I'm not positive on the payout. Last year with 340 I think they paid down a little farther. I think if they could get some corporate CASH support they could sweeten the payoff for the top 20. Our best finish was 17th a couple of years ago and our check wasn't anywhere near what Mercury Nationals pays. I'll say this though, Otter Street is the best run tournament I've ever fished. With that many boats you have to admit that it goes pretty well. All the volunteers at the launch deserve our thanks. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Member Posts: 183 Location: Menasha, Wis. | I have fished Otter Street for many years, and agree with Dale that this is the best run tournament out there. The days of a tight pack of 100 boats doing a shotgun start are over, but that sure was one heck of an adrenaline rush. From the shoreline, I was told it was very impressive - 100,000+ horsepower turning the mouth of Millers Bay upside down!!! One of the reasons that Otter Street is so popular, is that it has always tried to payback 20% of the field - better than most tournaments. Last year with 343 teams, they opted to sweeten the pot for the top ten positions instead of paying down to the 68th position. I wish they would restructure the payouts for the top ten and still pay 20% of the field. A couple of years ago, a team I know took 10th place and received $1,000. That team beat more than 290 other teams in two days of competition and a $350 entry fee to only get $1,000 back --- as Bob from Quizno's would say " thats just not right". I am not trying to put any type of negative criticism on the Otter Street tournament or the great organization that it is. I am just hoping that as this tournament continues to grow in popularity, that it makes some minor adjustments to the payout structure. The personal satisfaction of cashing a check at such a large tournament and fishing against many of the best fisherpeople on Lake Winnebago is awesome!!!! Hoping to be in the payoff line with the rest of you contestants --- team 172. ![]() Happy fishing to all ![]()

Member Posts: 9 Location: West Bend WI,53090 | In 2003 my team took 14th place the payout was $700.00.In 2004 my team took 7th place the payout was $1800.00.Which was only $100.00 increase over 7th place in 2003 while all the payouts below the top ten went up by more.I don't understand since the tournament is getting larger it is that much harder to get on top.The payouts should reflex that.By the way the payout for 14th went up alot more in 2004 than what it was in 2003.I hope they look at ajusting the payouts in 2005.Good luck to everyone in the tournament this year.See you on the water. boat 271
