Location: Freedom, WI | Some fish are already spawned out, since my dad was out on the raft last night and caught 24" spawned out female! There are still plenty of fish to come upriver yet though, that one probably either was a river fish or ran up under the ice. |

| I was with Kendall Kampke on Thursday working the shocking boat above New London with him and two gentlmen from Walleyes For Tomorrow. We tagged just shy of 400 fish with just a few females ready to spawn and males milking like crazy. Large number of fish around 24 inches and quite a few bigger ones. Not as many first time spawners as I expected but from what I saw quite a few year classes were represented. Had our nets on one absolute TUB but the size of the fish and speed of the shocking boat during the "routine" kept us from getting her in the tank. The bigg4est fish we measured was 27.7 inches I believe and weighed just shy of 9 pounds. LOTS of 14 inch males too, 14.2 was so common a number it was funny, plus a few males to nearly 21 inches and quite a few 17 to 19. Should be quite a down run!! |
