The Illinois Walleye Trail conducted Two One Day Tournaments on the Illinois River at Starved Rock State Park April 16, 17, 2005. 81 teams from Indiana and Illinois found the water temps in the low 60's with most of the Saugers being spawned out. The water clarity was good with visibility about 12-15 inches and water levels being raised and lower about a foot a day.

On Saturday the team of Joe Miller and Rick Taylor from Elgin, Illinois found the fish aggressive on the Peru Flats. Trolling crank baits on three ways they scaled a limit of six fish weighing 18.60 pounds earning them a check for $1,530.00 with a big fish (walleye weighing 6.56 pounds for an additional $430.00. Second place went to Brian Ernat and Doug Schlenz Seatonville, Illinois with a limit weighing 12.93 pounds and $780.00 Third place honors went to John Dalzot and Tom Giachetto Jr. from Spring Valley with 12.56 pounds and a check for $495.00.

The second tournament day the fisherman found almost the same conditions, a little overcast but bright sunny skies by 9:00am. The team of John Dalzot and Tom Giachetto Jr. jigged there way to a limit weighing 14.57 pounds and a check for $1,370.00. Placing second with cranks on 3-ways was Joe Miller and Rick Taylor with 13.67 pounds. The lead core team of Randy Carroll and Lee Scott from Oswego, Illinois finished third with 13.19 pounds for $475.00 and big fish honors of a 3.26 pound fish for an additional $380.00.
We would like to Thank our fine Sponsors Hennepin Marine, Lund Boats, and Mercury Motors for their Support and Help. The next tournament will be May 14, 15, 2005 at Spring Valley, Illinois.
