I have the chance to get either of these and was wondering what reel you think is better? Its size 1000 Stradic and size 30 President. Thanks for your comments.

I have four stradics and wouldn't have anything else, Have used them for 3years and they still work like they are new. Just my opinion

I've been very happy with my Shimanos and have had no reason to buy any other reel. I've had the opportunity to mess with a few other reels when customers have sent them to me to set up their custom rod, although none have been a Pflueger. My brother-in-law has one that I believe is the model below the President. I saw nothing from that reel that would make me give up the Stradic or Symetre.

The 1000 size is a bit small in my opinion. Good for light vertical jigging. The 1000 size is my reel for light duty work. Panfish and very light Walleye jigging. 00, 0 and 1 power Loomis rods. And UL and L St. Croix rods are good matches.

If that 30 President is the same size as a Shimano 3000, I'd say thats a bit big. 3 power Loomis, M and MH power St. Croixs.
