Subject: Spoons help?

I picked up a few spoons in the scorpion and stingers in various colors. I dont have down riggers or jets and the area I am fishin is generally 17-23ft deep. The water is still quite cool and the bite has been TOUGH. So out of desperation I want to try spoons. How would you suggest I rig given my situation?? Thanks in advance for your help

I don't fish spoons much, but I have pulled them here on Winnebago in 16-19 FOW. I just used 1-2 oz snap weights and my line counters. I put the weight about 50 feet in front of the spoons, and pulled them behind planer boards. Good luck- Dave S

If legal on your waters, try them as sliders above diving crankbaits on the same mainline. Tie in a barrel swivel 36" above your crankbait as a stopper. Now make a 30" leader for your spoon. Let out the crank to the desired length, and then attach the spoon leader and throw it in the water. The whole she-bang slides down the line to the stopper and then the spoon runs above and a little behind the crank. Two lures, two presentations, two chances on one line.
