Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | This past week and the Walleye's are showing signs of improved biting. Combining different fishing methods we still are taking some nice eating size Walleye using jigging, live-bait rigging (using Walleye's Choice floaters; http//www.walleyeschoice.com)
as well trolling over areas again using Walleye's Choice harness's and small minnow style crankbaits.
Water surface temps. have been rising all through the week with the warming daytime sun's solar heat. Daytime temps. have been getting to around 70' for the past 5 days. These warming days can only improve and get these fish into a more positive feeding mood.
Weather conditions these last days have been pretty stable with morning temps. starting at around the middle to upper 40's and warming to the 60's and lower 70's before the days end.
Weedbeds are slowly growing and we are seeing some pretty nice cabbage, coontail and elodia weedbeds starting throughout both the upper and lower bays.
This past week we had the enjoyment of fishing with several groups of clients; Dale Dewildt of Appleton, Wisconsin a long time client had fun both jigging and trolling; Loren and Steve Doench of Naperville, IL. and we again spent a good amount of a days fishing tossing jigs; finishing out the past several days and fishing with Larry Dopkins and Vince Calandrino from the Madison, Wisconsin areas also learning about the Bay and working jigging, rigging and trolling methods.
Fishing tips for the week and we are using a combination of baits; live-bait including crawlers, minnows and leeches along with artificals as the Challenger Minnow style crankbaits and a bait taking some nice catches, Berkley's "gulp!"
The pumkinseed and white's in the minnow worm 4 inch along with the jigging 3" worm and 3" minnow grub.
Good luck fisherman and seeing you on the waters this weekend and throughout the week.
Marty
