Member Posts: 56 | Johnnie Candle and I will be at the Appleton Scheels store on Saturday, February 25th presenting the Scheels Walleye University to anglers interested in learning more about walleye fishing. Our seminar is geared towards all skill levels, from the beginner to veteran walleye anglers. You will get TONS of information and have a good time at this event. Plenty of time for questions and answers as well. I know that Johnnie and I sure have a lot of fun doing these seminars, and we hope to see you in Appleton on the 25th. Please call the store for more details. Jim Carroll NPAA #333 For Immediate Release Appleton, WI -- On February 25th, 2006, professional anglers Johnnie Candle and Jim Carroll will share as much of their walleye fishing know how as they possibly can in eight hours. The Scheels “Walleye University” is a comprehensive seminar that focuses on the nuts and bolts of fishing for walleye. It is an 8 hour day of discussing the fine points of jig fishing, live bait rigging, spinners and crank baits. Boat control, trolling techniques, and marine electronics will also be covered in depth. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers as well. “Sharing our knowledge is a big part of professional angling,” says Jim Carroll, a four-year veteran on the Professional Walleye Trail and a two-time national championship qualifier, “and it’s very rewarding. We travel all over the country to fish for walleye, and we take the techniques that we have learned and teach them in this school. Nothing is more gratifying to us than meeting up with fishermen who have attended Walleye University, and hearing about their successful fishing trips using information learned at one of our schools.” The Walleye University was first introduced in Bismarck, ND in 2003. It was such a big hit that the duo decided to take the show on the road. Since Bismarck, the pros have presented this seminar to hundreds of walleye anglers in six different states. . This year the University will visit Sioux Falls, SD, Omaha, NE, Mankato, MN, as well as the stop in Appleton. There is no other place to learn this much in one day. Candle, a 12-year professional angler, says, “The things learned at Walleye University will help you make those tough, on the water decisions and let you enjoy your outings even more. The timing of Walleye University is great. With the mild winter we have had, spring fishing will start sooner than we know it.” Walleye University will be held at Scheels, Fox River Mall in Appleton, WI on Saturday February 25th. It begins at 8:30 am and runs till 5:00 pm. Every person in attendance will receive a package that includes a printed version of Walleye University, a $10 gift card from Scheels All Sports and an assortment of fishing tackle. Please pre-register, as seating is limited to the first 100 people. Register at Scheels in Appleton (920) 830-2977.

![]() Member Posts: 120 Location: Devils Lake, ND | Hey all. I too would like to personally invite all of you to come over for the Walleye University. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is sharing with others has worked for us over the years. There is one oversight in the press release that is posted, the school does cost $50 for the day. You will get a $10 gift card from Scheels, a copy of the school in a printed version with room to take notes (priceless) and a good selection of tackle from Berkley, Lindy, Today's Tackle and more. The information alone is worth the $50, but you will carry a bag of goodies out that will justify the cost of the school. I hope to see all of you guys there.

Member Posts: 19 | The Missouri Walleye Anglers Association sponsored a Jim Carroll and Johnnie Candle trip to the Ozarks last month for a jam packed day of information called Walleye University. Here is what our somewhat humorous local outdoor writer had to say about the event... http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060119/COLU...

I was really looking forward to it but I'll be working a boat show instead. I sure hope everyone else from WF takes advantage of this great opportunity. I was really looking forward to learning a few new tricks.

Member Posts: 3899 | I'd really like to come see you guys, but I really, really want to see Dick Pearson at the Sportsman in Appleton that day. Sorry guys, but it's Dick Pearson. And it will be one of his last seminars ever. Just gotta be there to say hello, and kinda goodbye to a friend and legend in the muskie world.

Member Posts: 56 | Shep, that's the tough part about scheduling these schools. We do our best to try and avoid conflicts with other events. Actually, we were planning on March 11th for this school but hadn't announced it yet. Then we saw that the Otter Street Fishing Club announced their event for that weekend, so we decided to move our school so it wouldn't be on the same weekend as their event. February 25th was the only date that worked for us. Ideally, we would have liked more time to promote this school but I can tell you from past experience that anyone who attends will be very happy that they did. It's jam-packed with good information and we work really hard to make it a fun event for all. Jim Carroll NPAA #333
