Location: OSHKOSH, WI | Ok guys, first owned boat, first problem..not good timing. My prop when trying to go on plane sounds like it is sucking air. I messed around with the trim/tilt and are convinced it is not that and it is a real problem. My motor rpms go really up and the engine shakes and becomes loud in a bad way. I checked the pin and it seems to be fine. Someone told me I may have spun the prop and broke the seal on the rubber insert inside the prop. Anyone have any experience with this problem or ideas. I would like to save as much money as possible with this. It is a 98 Mariner 2.0 V6 oil injected and carbaroted if that helps any. Oh yeah almost forgot at top speed it is at least 10 mph slower than it should be and high rpms(close to 6000) Thanks, Bob |

Location: Winneconne | sounds like the prop is cavitating, while trying different stainless props on my fathers boat, we found that a 19P was too tight, and would cavitate before the boat would plane out(17' Starcraft Superfisherman) causing it to have the same issues your having with yours, a 20P was perfect, and a 21P would give us great hole shots, but our top speed was off about 8 mph from the 20P. my suggestion is try a diffrent prop. |

Location: OSHKOSH, WI | I am trying a new prop..well hopefully a used prop if I can find one. I am getting the diameter numbers and pitch off the old one so hopefully I can borrow someones prop to test it to see if that is what my problem is. Thanks |
