This is my third year of walleye tournaments and I am considering a new sonar. The choice is between the Lowrance 110C and the LCX 25. The 110C has a higher resolution but is a huge unit to mount on the dash. The LCX 25 is smaller and easier to mount but has lower resolution. I need some advise please, since this is a big investment for me to make.

Both are very nice units. I have a LCX 25 on my dash, and I will be putting one on my bow in a couple weeks. Sometimes, I wish I had the 110c, but for the most part the 25c is plenty good enough. The 25c still has a pretty high pixel count. If you like to do a lot of open water trolling, especially on the great lakes, then the 110c might be the better choice. It is nice to have that big screen, when you are doing a split screen of sonar and GPS. Especially when you are in the back of the boat. I am not a big open water troller, that is why I don'y have a big need for the 110c. I spend most my time in the bow, so that is why I am also getting a 25c in the bow. I will say, when I am in a great lakes tournament, I do find myself wishing I had the 110c.

Mike, I have the 110c on my 2060 Tuffy and it is awesome. I would recommend it. If you don't have room in the dash, you can purchase several different style mounting brackets. I modified my bracker with a swing arm so I can still use the windscreen and the unit is kinda off to the side in plain view.

Lx17 (Sonar) only with LMS-3600 on the dash and then an LMS480 on deck. The LX17 and LMS3600 are on a Crestliner Dash behind the windsheild and they fit there beautifully. Then the gps/sonar combo on the deck. Both GPS units accept the navonic chips.

If you can afford it, go with the 110. You will not regret it.

I'll have the 111HD on the console, and the 334 on the bow this year. The 110/111 is a big unit, but it is nice to have the big picture. Especially with my eyes, anymore!. A couple hundred dollars difference between the two, I think the 110/111 is a bit better value.

Either way, you'll not be disappointed. Both are great units, and networkable. I just set up two boats this weekend with units on the console and the bow, with temp probes for the water, and the livewell. LowranceNet, or NMEA 2000, is awesome, and pretty easy to do. Basically plug and play.

Shep,

I have a 332 on the bow (w/ universal sonar) and a 332 on the console (w/ transom sonar). Both of these units are on the Lowrance net to share GPS information. Is there a way that I can get the digital temperature and depth from the transom sonar to my bow unit. I would like to have a depth reading by my bow mount sonar when I don't have my trolling motor lowered into the water.

I do understand that I can't get the sonar signatures since the signatures are to broad of a band to be transmitted by the Lowrance net.

Thanks for your help.

Tech,

Sure. It's easy, but you must have the latest version firmware downloaded to both units. Might as well make sure the LGC200 GPS Receiver is updated as well.

To get your console depth on the bow unit, go to the bow unit, and hit the menu key. Cursor down to Overlay Data, and hit enter. Cursor to the "ADD" line, and hit enter. You should see a menu structure, and the bottom one should be NMEA 2000. Cursor to that, and hit enter. You should see the data available to display. Select the data you want, hit enter, exit out, and you should be good to go.

Shep, How is your 334 performing? School is out on mine yet.

I don't have it yet. The Lund has not been sold yet. I am contemplating putting the 111 on that for the time being. Sorry I can't help out on the 334. I did hear there were some GPS lock issues, and may have been a recall. If you have problems, you might want to give Lowrance a call.

Shep, I noticed in some of the consumer catalogs that the 111HD and 26HD aren't offered. Not sure what the deal is on those units. I know there was some issues with them last year. Do you have more info on those units and their availability?

They are available at Thornes, and Reeds. I'm not sure about Cabela's and the others. You should be able to order from Justin at Gander, if they don't have them in stock.

I have my LCX-111 mounted on my Lund for the time being. It works great, and these eyes can see it clearly!
