Location: Rhinelander
Clear skies and mild temps with winds from 10 to 20 out of the NW were the conditions as the Pros and Co Anglers prepared to launch this morning at PWT Headquarters out of Cedar Shore resort. Jay Jannay, Yar Craft Mercury Pro, said he felt the fishing might be a little tougher than it was in prefish because of the cold front. He said the bite yesterday was much tougher than before the front, and he hoped as the day progressed his game plan will put five good walleyes in the boat. Day one leader Crestliner Pro John Butts was out on the water in the harbor and ready to go early, and seemd in VERY good spirits.

The entire field was on the water by 8:07 AM, and not one single boat headed north today.

Stay with WalleyeFIRST for continuing coverage of the PWT Minn Kota Super Pro in Chamberlain, South Dakota.

Chief Papineau looked alittle tired today, but reported that he was 'doing better; and ready to fish' today despite his ordeal a week back. He is on the mend, and wanted to pass along his thanks to all who were worried about him while he was in hospital.

A quote from the PWT Press release listed the effective presentations on the River yesterday as:

Pros were successful with these tactics:

trolling crankbaits with boards;
trolling crankbaits on leadcore;
running bottom bouncers with spinners & crawlers;
bouncers with floating jig-heads;
casting jigs with minnows;
jigs with half-crawlers;
jigs with PowerBait Minnows;
casting crankbaits (Shad Raps).

It's still a wide open tournament!

I'm finishing my new rig this weekend (YEAH BABY, MY MOTORGUIDE IS IN!!!!) and will be able to shoot on the water pictures the rest of the year after that time. I may get out in a PWT camera boat tomorrow. Look for a couple WalleyeFIRST radio interviews this evening.

The weigh in will begin between 5 and 6 PM, depending on when the PWT decides to fire up the scales.

Anybody know if there has been a major tourney with no zeroes before? This is pretty cool that it is so close. I bet there are a lot more butterflies in the morning than at the normal tourney! What an awesome fishery.

Go Tom Kemos!

The bite continued today, with a few more Pros coming to the stage with a lighter basket. Tomorrow looks to be a copy of today with less wind, which are the conditions many of the anglers patterned in prefish. STEVE BOHN holds the lead with about the weight of one fish here, with Tom Kemos, a VERY hot stick as of late, closing in on first just a couple pounds back.

Tomorrow is the final day of the PWT Super Pro in Chamberlain, and the winner will be the first PWT Super Pro event champion, taking home $60000 in cash and prizes. Stay with WalleyeFIRST for continuing coverage on Day Three.
