It was tight right down to the wire. Ed and Dustin Klepacki held the lead after day one with 12.11 pounds. On day two they boated only three fish for 5.35 pounds for a total weight of 17.46 but it was good enough for a 4 hundreths of a pound victory and claim the title of National Champions. Their 6.93 pound walleye on day one was also the Big Fish of the tournament. They were trolling bouncers and crawlers on lock points in the lower river. The team of Paul Bruss and Nick Lasch stepped up on day two to narrowly miss the title and claim Second Place with five fish weighing 8.89 and a total weight of 17.42 pounds. It doesn’t get any closer than that. They trolled jointed shad raps in pool three. Although they fell just short of being National Champions, their efforts earned them the National Team of the Year title. Ross Hosking and John Nuebel claimed Third Place. They boated 5 fish for 7.82 pounds and a two day total of 14.81 pounds. They were using three-way rigs with crawlers and minnows below the mouth of the St. Croix River at Prescott. Congratulations Guys!
