If you bought a brand new boat and you got it home and found what looks like repairs made to a damaged area on the bottom of the transom. What would you do if the dealer told you to bring it back in for a warranty claim and estimate.Keep in mind the boat went from the dealer to my garage and has not been out of the garage since.Just looking for opinions.

If I bought it used, and I did'nt look it over completely. I would be very mad at myself. If it's new or being sold as new, I would give it back and request "new". If used I would want to talk to the past owner to see what happened.

Location: Rhinelander
If the boat was new, and the area was damaged, I'd find out where that damage occured and who attempted to fix it. Is the boat glass or aluminum? A glass boat can be properly repaired and no one would ever be able to find it if it's on the bottom and not a polyflake area. It could have happened in shipping, in the dealer yard, or at the factory. I'd then patiently and in a reasonabe tone call the right people and ask them how they will make your boat 'new' as it is supposed to be, when that might happen, and how long you will be out of a rig; I'd also suggest that this was a 'new' rig, and that's what you expected to own, so nothing less than 'new' is OK. If the answers are not what you need to hear, negotiate with the dealer and return the boat; you are completely within your legal right to do so if lots of time has not passed.

It may have come from the factory that way.
Entirely possible dealer may not know anything about it.
Have seen this happen, personally.

Take it in. The dealer needs to get things headed back in the right direction for you.
"Warranty" includes many possible scenarios, one of which should be acceptable to you.
