| I'm new to this site so forgive me if I'm overlooking the obvious but in looking at the top 200 world rankings I'm confused. How is it that Bill Ortiz is ranked 14th? He finished 4th in the angler of the year race last year in the PWT and qualified for the PWT and FLW Championships. Currently he is 10th in the FLW angler of the year race and is 1st in the PWT version. I'm sure the 13 guys ranked above him are good anglers but.......?? |

Location: Rhinelander | Look at the number of tournaments included in the current Rankings. Look also at the graphic representation of the finishes. Bill fished more events during the current Ranking timeframe, so his ranking position will tend to be less less volatile than Nick's. Bill's finishes that were out of the money will tend to push his placement down, but as they are replaced with current finishes like his last PWT Super Pro IN the money, he will gain ground.
Here's the graphs from Nick, Bill, and Tommy Skarlis. Note Tommy has fished the same number of events as Bill in this period. Compare the graphs.
