Well I guess I fried the foot pedal on my minn kota maxuum with good fishing just getting going. I would like to switch to a motorguide for a change and saw a deal for a 70 lb. thrust 24 volt 5 speed foot control bow mount for $450. Is this sound like a deal or not? I would think that is about a $700 motor. The 5 speed vs. variable speed I am not pumped about, but some opinions would help. I fish the fox in Oshkosh and the wolf in fremont quite a bit. The motor I have now is a 65 lb thrust maxuum and just does not get it done and not worth fixing for another $200 to potentially have a brand new and more powerful motor. Anyone have issues with converting the minn kota mounts over to motorguide or especially the electrical hook up. I have an octopus plug now and was wondering just what I might be getting myself into if I switch as far as money and effort. Thanks, Bob

Zach had a new Motorguide digital steer on his new 1890. It seemed like a nice TM. Very quick turning, just like a cable steer, IMO. I liked the the stow feature, where it aligns thew motor in the proper orientation. Had plenty of power.

I had a pro series motorguide 70lb 24v that I bought on closeout from bass pro shops for about $450 a couple of years ago. When i was running it i would drain my Optima batteries within 4 hours. I called motorguide and they told me it took 68 or 78amp hrs at full throttle. Most motors take less than 40 amp hrs at full throttle. Just make sure you check on this before you buy if you like to run all day.
