(A)I experimented for a while before deciding on all the components that I use on the spoon harness rigs. With the crawler and the 2 hook harness tied directly onto the back of the spoon, it did not allow the spoon to flip back and forth and flash to my liking. By adding 2 beaded chain swivels (front and back) to the spoon, it allows this flip to occur unhindered by any drag and at all trolling speeds fast or slow. And keeps the main line twist free. Purple Skeeter: Those michigan stingers are sharp, but i use almost any lake michigan salmon spoon and they also work. (Q)Capt: Dan have you experiment with running medium sized dodgers on your crawler fly rigs? alot like lake michgan fly dodgers? I would think running those big dodgers would attract fish from a distance and running them high would pull them up to your depth? any opinions? (A)Nope I have not tried dodgers on the fly rigs. I have used the smaller diving discs and the #5 hoochie mama's as show in the picture and they work for walleyes in deeper water, say 25' or deeper. If I had one complaint about the fly rigs, it's that the Finsel tends to get twisted over time while working in the water, because of the turning/twisting of the spinner blade on the rig. I plan on fixing that problem by pinching a sleve on the line just after the first bead, so only it turns with the blades resolution. As far as pulling up walleyes from the depths with a dodger? On Saginaw Bay, I believe suspended (mid depth) walleyes will indeed come up a few feet to grab an easy meal. But them boys near or dead on the bottom either want something dead slow and right in their faces, or simply want to be left alone. ![]() ![]() Edited by walleye express 6/20/2006 9:00 AM

Wulp, the weeds were not an issue today for some reason, even after that 2 day blow. And heres the poop from my charter today on the Bay. I ran straight out of Hoyles and started trolling in 16 FOW towards the Spark Plug. Went 9 for 11 all the way to it, turned around and went 10 for 13 on the way back. 3 man limit kept by 11:47. Farmed about a 9 pounder behind the boat, caught a couple monster sheeps, and threw back about 8 or 10 more just touching that 15 inch mark. Used every single one of my 42 releases by days end. All but 3 fish were caught on Stinger Scorpion slider spoons above cranks 50 to 70 back, 2.3 to 2.6. Raspberry was kicking Azz and taking names. I was in with about 7 or 8 other boats and only seen one other fish landed. Heard guys talking on the radio that said they were throwing everything they had at them, and couldn't get anything going. It was a slider kind of day for sure. Attachments ---------------- ![]()
