And heres the poop from my charter today on the Bay. I ran straight out of Hoyles and started trolling in 16 FOW towards the Spark Plug. Went 9 for 11 all the way to it, turned around and went 10 for 13 on the way back. 3 man limit kept by 11:47. Farmed about a 9 pounder behind the boat, caught a couple monster sheeps, and threw back about 8 or 10 more just touching that 15 inch mark. Used every single one of my 42 releases by days end. All but 3 fish were caught on Stinger Scorpion slider spoons above cranks 50 to 70 back, 2.3 to 2.6. Raspberry was kicking Azz and taking names. I was in with about 7 or 8 other boats and only seen one other fish landed. Heard guys talking on the radio that said they were throwing everything they had at them, and couldn't get anything going. It was a slider kind of day for sure. Edited by walleye express 6/22/2006 4:01 PM Attachments ---------------- IM001124.JPG (80KB - 82 downloads)

After the crank is let out, the slider (with 30 inch leaders tied to the Mich. Stinger Scorpion size spoons) were attached to the mainline, and then they slide down to the barrel swivel above the crank and stop. The spoon runs above and a little behind the crank below.

Member Posts: 19 | Dan, were you running the crawler rig behind the spoon or just a spoon alone?

Just the bare spoons today. I usually start off with just them, switch to spoons harnesses and gulps, and then the real meat replaces the gulps if need be. But I'm always a happier camper when the bare steel is working. Edited by walleye express 6/22/2006 9:55 PM

Member Posts: 19 | One more question about the sliders. When using a spoon alone do add a chain swivel to the front or just attach the leader to the front ring?

When using a spoon alone do add a chain swivel to the front or just attach the leader to the front ring? Just the front ring. Heres my report for today. I thought it was going to be a re-peat of Thursday. Got 5 rods out and bang, 19 incher hits the box. 7 rods out and bang, twin brother hits the rasberry spoon above the Crank. But then things went dead for a while. I'd say the crank to spoon ratio was about 50 50 today. And we caught some real midgets today on the spoons as well. 2 of them barely bigger than the spoons themselves. We landed one Northern Pike about 28 inches, and about 22 walleyes today, but only had 13 in the box at 3:00pm. When I cleared the rods to go in, we had on 3 others (2 keeps) that were being draged around for God knows how long. Got a 1/2 day trip tomorrow (I hope) before the next front comes in.

| WOULD YOU EXPLAIN THE "SLIDER"? | |||

Attached at one end to it's O'ring is a spoon of your choice, in this case a Michigan Stinger Scorpion spoon. At the other end of that leader line is a snap swivel of your choice, mine is a Norman Quick Clip, very fast and works great. This snap is attached to your main line and the leader and spoon thrown into the water, only after you let out the crankbait to it's desired length. A barrel swivel of speed bead is attached to this mainline above the crankbait and serves as a stopper for this leader that slides down the mainline to this stopper. The spoon then runs above and slightly behind the crankbait running below. Attachments ---------------- SliderRig[2].jpg (23KB - 124 downloads)

Member Posts: 859 Location: Appleton wi | I like to use a 3way swivel for the slider and attach the slider bait on one and attach clip on the 3rd with a 8" lead. I use the clip to prevent the bait line from sliding down and when there is a fish on the slider all you have to do is release the the clip and is slide down to your barrel swivel or small lead sinker wich is about 10ft in front of your lure . I am not sure about michigan laws but technically i am not sure if you put the second line on after first one is in the water it may be considered a second line.
