Member Posts: 182 Location: Green Bay, WI. | We took off at 7:00am from Oconto with 4 to 5 foot waves pounding us all the way to Chambers Island. We figured Carls 620 Ranger would handle the waves better than my 619 Ranger, and it did. We got to Chambers at 8:35am. Just start setting up and we lost our GPS for quite a while, we were on the north end of Chambers Island by the Mansion. I have fished this area at least a hundred times (if you have ever checked out my streaming video on my website this is the exact same spot) so we just started trolling Reef Runners. as was the tip from Dean Arnoldussen Carl sets up to run 11' to 16', I set up 20'-35'-50' back, our shallowest spot topped at 13'. Carl pops the first eye a nice 8lb'er on a Clown Reef Runner. We go back and I pop a nice 8lb'er on Purple Prism Reef Runner 35' feet back with a half a crawler on the rear treble and spraying my cranks with doctor juice. We go back again and WHAM the 12.66lb'er smokes my Purple Prism with a half of a crawler and it took at least 8 minutes to get her in. Then we caught a nice sheephead, had a couple come unbuttoned and caught a 5lb'er about 11:15. We left at 12:40 to head back to Oconto and wouldn't you know it, the GPS shuts down again. I have to say Carl did a pretty good job getting us back heading into 4-5 footers and no track to follow. We got back with 10 minutes to spare, a little sore but thats OK it's fishing. That's right I forgot to mention we got lucky and ended up winning the event. This is my story and I'm sticking to it, Pat Cavins Edited by rangerpat 8/6/2006 9:26 PM

Member Posts: 182 Location: Green Bay, WI. | I just wanted to thank Scott & Jessie Dufrane for finding my planer board & Reef Runner and for taking the time out from fishing to chase us down and give it back to us. I thought for sure it was gone. Also thanks to the Sheboygan Walleye Club it was a blast, and the food was great. Thanks to Oconto it was nice not having to scramble in the morning trying to pay a launch fee. Thanks for the freebie. Pat

| Pat, Congrats and thanks for sharing your information on your catch. It is rare for anyone in here to share how they caught their fish anytime, but winning a tournament and then sharing how you and your partner did it... that's a class act and a sign of a true sportsman. I hope to try a few new spots this summer in the upper bay, your report is a big help! Guest | |||

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | I would like to take a moment and say something: For a first annual tournament, I thought things ran as smooth as any tournament. I have been a member of the Sheboygan walleye club for several years now. They have been warming up for a large tournament show like this for years. They have been running club events for over 5 years. I am proud of my brothers who put together a show that is rivalled by few. There were many hands involved and all are due a hardy round of applause. For those of you who were on the fence and decided not to fish, this is the one you want to be associated with. Oconto fans are the greatests fans in the world. They were out in good numbers to see the fish. Everything from start to finish was all about the fisherman and spectators. Well, everything was not perfect.... like the size of my basket....however hmmpfft.... Make sure you mark this on your calander for next season. Maybe we can twist the clubs arm to give us a date soon. Thanks Guys Denny Fox

Member Posts: 182 Location: Green Bay, WI. | Thanks Terror (Jim) I just wish she would of survived. She has a sister still swimming up there. So I may have to go & tell her the bad news in person. I am going to try & post the release from the Oconto personnel that helped at the tourney. Be patient if it doesn't work. I'm a fisherman not a sexsatery.
