| When my cell phone range this morning at 4:45 am, I knew that my friend that I had promised to take fishing must not have got my message that I had spent the whole day on Monday on the bay and could only manage 4 fish between 19-21 inches. West winds on the East shore have never been my favorite. Against my better judgement, I answered and yes it was my friend from Madison and he was already on his way, with his new boss and they were really excited to spend the day with me on the bay. Oh great, now the pressure was really on.
We started shallow and managed to pickup a couple of nice fish early, then later in the morning we headed out to 21 feet of water and connected with a nice bunch of 19-24 inch fish. All our fish came in 21-23 feet of water running 5/8 oz keel weights 60 feet behind the boards @ 1.6-1.7 mph. Firetiger Holigraphic #5's with Glass Green and Orange beads. We continued to catch and release a whole bunch of nice size Walleyes.
In order to get aroung the White Perch that seemed to steal your crawler the instant you let the line out, we would set up the rods at 2.5 mph and then back down to 1.6-1.7 mph. We still caught a dozen or so White Perch, big pain in the you know what!
Hope this helps anyone headed to the bay in the next few days.
