"after some major computer issues and camera problems back on-line and
running fast!"
Little Bay de Noc weekly fishing update, last several weeks of August!”
Targeted fish this week, again “walleye!”
Weekly weather conditions;
Weather these past several weeks has been pretty stable, but of course with those mixed summer days of rain and thunderstorms. Cool nights and pleasant daytime temps with water temps in the lower 70’s.
Methods of fishing for the week;
Walleye’s Choice crawler harnesses, floaters and lead head jigs producing the best. Trolling crank baits becoming better ever day!
Techniques used for the fishing week;
Trolling speeds of 1.0 mph and below. I-42, I-62, I-34 and floaters P-76-H’s. Both running bottom-bouncers, in-line planer boards to spread lines. Also just having clients holding onto rods while slow trolling as well. Using full crawlers, substituting Berkley “gulp” avoiding the pesky gobies and small perch. 1/8th through 3/8th bulked up jigs using fuzzy grubs or plastics tipping with a crawler piece. Pop-hopping the jig and ripping weeds getting the strikes! Crank baits keep to natural colors.
Areas being targeted;
Break line edges, 25 feet of waters and less for us relating to nearby weed beds of cabbage, elodia weeds (greener the better) for trolling patterns. Jigging areas again the edges, flats as well the heaviest weed beds fishing right in them, “frustrating” yes but holding some nice fish. Guides note: PWT Fisherman Marty Glorvigen was telling me pre-fishing this past week’s tournament took several really nice 3 to 5 pound fish in the heavy weeds.
Guides Tip for the week;
Covering water!! Pick out a “milk-run” of spots spending just enough time to covering it thoroughly, key in on schools of baitfish and you’ll find “Walleye!”
Here’s some photo’s from this past weeks catches
