After reading all the posts concerning the latest MWS tournament and the locations of this tournament series, it’s apparent that we all agree on the following:
1. Jim Coon and his crew do an excellent job.
2. The MWS is a well run.
3. MWS asks for suggestions from the tournament fishermen.
4. MWS is dedicated to the sport of fishing and was created by tournament anglers for tournament anglers.
5. The MWS listens to ALL suggestions but we all need to remember that this is a business for them. The biggest business decision that they make each year is where they will have the tournaments. This decision will/can make or break them.
Let’s see if we can identify what the majority of you want for a schedule next year from MWS.

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I think Jim needs to rotate the members of his advisory committee every 1-2 years to keep the ideas fresh and to have more open minds to fishing more than the places they fish. |

I'm not sure who is on the advisory committee this year. I have been on it in the past and my perception is that Jim has a very hard time getting volunteers for this committee. I also do not recall having been asked where we should fish while serving on this committee. My recollection is that this committee gives suggestions to Jim for day to day tournament decisions (like what to do when someone breaks a rule). But as the name implies, all suggestions are just advisory and Jim still makes the final decisions. He gets to do that because he owns the right. His game, his ball, and his rules. That's how it is in any tournament series.

| Dennis,
For your polling sample, wouldn't a survey of last years participants be more valuable than a general survey like this, that allows potshots and opinions of those who have no constructive imput.

I'm sure that you are right. I was just trying to help in my little way. I thought that having a poll like this would allow input from those interested in participating in the tournament series. Plus give those who did just one or two tournaments a chance to give suggestions.
I also thought that we would keep potshots down by only allowing registered users the option of adding voting catagories. You can not add options or vote if you are unregistered. |

Location: Berlin | Talking to a friend of mine tonight about this. I don't think the MWS is the right circuit for this but I would love to have a "Winnebago system only" circuit. Four tournaments: One in April, one in late May, one in late June and the last in August. That would cover all the major fish migrations throughout the year and finally prove just who the best over-all fishermen is on this system. Instead of having a championship I would pay money for the top 5 in accumulated points at the end of the year. Don't mean to get off track here Dennis but maybe this is something Jim would consider also. |

The advisory committee is changed each year. These anglers are volunteers. When I asked each year for an Advisory Committee there are only a few teams that step forward. I appreciate all their efforts and input and THANK this and past year’s committees. They are the advisory committee and as Dennis stated in the end I make the decisions. If the wrong decisions have been made it is NOT the advisory committees fault, but mine.

I will look at the results and evaluate the results. I appreciate the time and thought you put into this poll. As I have stated in the past we are always open to suggestions.

We have tried polling the participating anglers in the past and have had limited return on surveys. I did not know Dennis was doing the survey but appreciate his efforts. Many of our participating anglers are on WF so hopefully we should get some response from these anglers. It is a chance for people to voice their opinions.
Some have suggested new locations or different locations. I need specific locations and I can research these locations. Remember there are restrictions that are at some locations. An example several people have suggested Castle Rock or Petenwell which are Catch and KILL tournaments much of the year. The Eagle River chain requires THREE weigh-in sites.

Location: Jackson, Wisconsin 53037 | I have never fished the MWS, but from all the comments I have seen, Jim runs a very good circuit. He is involved with the Merc Nats. and does a heck of a job, that is the only involvement I have had with him.
I follow the results of each tournament, now he only posts the results for the teams that catch fish. The last two events have had 80 and 90 teams in them that have caught fish. The MWS is getting quite large, that limits the water that can hold the events. The Bay and Bago are about the only bodies that can handle that amount of boats, and not effect the anglers that are out there on the weekend. That is why the FLW and PWT have their events during the week.
Jim already stated a couple of the restrictions or problems of having a tournament on another body of water, I'm sure that there are numerous restrictions that none of us know about.
It was stated that the M stands for Midwest, he could go to the Mississippi, Minn, the Det. river, etc., but how many of you are going to travel that distance for a one day tournament?
I don't know every competitors name, but I recognize a bunch of them. I'm assuming the majority of them live near one or both bodies of water where the tournaments are always held.

Dennis, I understand your good intentions and am not trying to belittle them. I agree that some potential and current particitpants are viewing on this site.
I would suspect that the currect success of MWS speaks for itself and the locations chosen have resulted in good competition. Best of luck to all involved.

| I voted for 4 diff bodies of water. the only thing keeping me from fishing this circuit is the fact that they lack diversity. I love new water and think it makes you a much better angler than just fishing the same bodies over and over, which is insanely boring. Just my $.02 |

| I added a category. Keep the 4 they had this year, and add a 5th in a different location.
I don't have a problem with where the the events have been held in the past. I don't care for Petenwell, as I don't like slot tourneys. I have suggested the Madison cahin. Some good eye fishing over there. Red Wing, LaCrosse, Genoa on the Mighty Mississippi, Castlerock, Wausau, Point on the Wisconsin. Big Green would be interesting at the right time.
Oh, wait. What am I thinking. All those sites will have locals. And no matter what, there will be the whiners. Always the whiners. Can't fish a tourney event anywhere, I guess.
Bottom line, I think the MWS should go where they fill the tourney. So far, that is 2 on Bago, and 2 on the Bay. That is why I say add a 5th, and see how many show up. |

Location: Menasha | I like the MWS and will fish the whole series no matter where it is. Jim and staff do a great job. I have met some great fishermen and new friends because of this series. I dont care if I get beat by a local or have to travel 500 miles, I will be there!

| They need to make the Winnebago system more interesting for tournaments by limiting boundries. It really is multiple lakes with different characters that require different knowledge and skills.
If the Winnebago system holds 3 tournies, one should be just the Wolf River, one just the upper lakes, and one just Lake Winnebago itself. There are plenty of fisherman in these tournies as well as Merc Nationals, Otter Street, and Fleet Farm that don't know the least about Poygan or Butte de Morts or Winneconne. I like the Winnebago tournies but wnat more boundries. The only negative about the bay is that it does limit some of the size of the boats because it always gives a larger edge to bigger boats and bigger motors. Call it what it is, a wisconsin series, and it will be just as successful. I really like the idea of an occasional trip to a different water with the Mississipi being intriguing, the Madison chain sounds great, Lake Koshkonong, or an up north chain like Manitowosh or even Big St. Germain would be good in May. |

| 3 on the same general body of water is too much the bago is good but i would rather have 3 on the bay 30# bags are exciting. i would say keep it how it is or have one on the mississippi instead of the first bago one.....what about having one out of the cedar river in mich |
