Location: McFarland, WI | Others may have previously discovered this but while fishing alone and having great action on the bay, I knocked my net overboard. Luckily I had a rod rigged next to me and I snagged it as it slowly sank.
To prevent a future loss, I converted that net to a floating net by injecting Great Stuff into the handle from both ends. Now I can at least go back and get it.

| You know, I've heard that idea already....and I've lost a net in a tournament (almost two). You'd think I've done that already, but I haven't.
Can I ask what kind of net you converted to a "floating net"? |

Location: Midland, MI 48642 | I have a beckman net. I took some peanuts used for shipping and kept stuffing it in the net handle. Tried it first by just laying it over the side of the boat in the water, it floated fine. One day I did drop it over by accident, still made me upset but it stayed right up no problem at all. Location: upper michigan | for those with extending handles you could also use foam pipe insulation or noodle floats on the back and side of the hoop tied on with plastic wire ties. Or a short pice on the handle so as not to impaire the handle extending.

Location: McFarland, WI | I added a long plastic hollow rod to the existing plastic tube on the Great Stuff so I could place the foam deep inside the tube to just near the end. Thus it does not interfere with the pop tab. You would just foam the inner tube on the extension net and seal the ends of the loop if necessary.

Location: Rhinelander | I also stuffed my Frabill net tube with styrofoam packing material, and it floats like a cork. It'd BIG, too, so I was very happy to see I could get it to float in case it ever is dropped into the drink. |
