I will be stepping back in 2007 and taking much of the year off. I have some advancement opportunities at work and my parents health is steadily declining. Along with that my son is a talented hockey player and his dream of playing hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers is more important to me than I thought possible. My daughter is very active in her interests and I need to be a Dad and a Son right now.

I want to thank everyone that has stood behind me and I enjoyed meeting members of this site over the years.

I personally want to thank Bill and Matt Bobber for being great friends I also want to include the following: Robert Blosser, Jim O'Brien, Robert Idzikowski, Todd Mueller, Jim Carroll and Johnnie Candle, and Dennis Skurulsky, you all have taught me so much and have been really good friends over the years.

If you ever get a chance to chat with any of these guys you will understand why I have such high regard for them.

Lastly I want to thank my sponsors for all their support in the past. Thank you Crestliner Boats, Mercury Marine, Dave's Ka-Boom Baits, Albackore Sportfishing gear, and Survivor Live Well Intake systems.

If I forgot anyone I am very sorry.

Again thank you to everyone and it was great meeting as many of you as I did.

Smart move. You only get one family and that always comes first.
Good luck and hope to meet you down the road someday.

Jon,

The thanks is to you in my case... I am sure you will be "around". Smart move to be ready to give to the family when they need you... The fish will be there, always. And, with you "gone" us old guys will have a chance... LOL

Rocket,

There is no need for the thanks, but you are welcome. If anything, I should be thanking you. You were a big help at at an event in Winnecone a few years back. If I remember correctly, you ran all over town to get me some boat numbers. That was a huge help.

Take care of the family, it is the right thing to do. You only get one shot at being a husband and a father. These silly tournaments will still be here when you want to try again.

There is a seat in my boat with your name on it come this spring. We will be in touch.

Johnny,

You always presented yourself with class, great ethics and true professionalism. You are the kind of person that people migrate to. The fishing industry's loss is your family's gain. As always, you have your priorities in order. I'm sure that with your guidance and support, your son will have his dreams come through. He will at least realize some day that the trip was worth it because you were at his side.

Jon,

Congratulations on your decision. Family always ratees before fishing, and knowing your committment to your son's future, I'm sure we'll see him in the NHL someday. Good luck.

Jon,
I always knew you had your priorities straight. Best of luck to your family in all their endeavors. One of these days, we will have to "just go fishing". I still think of the story you told me at the Winneconne launch about your dad. I hope all is well with him.
Take care,
Jim O

Thanks for all the kind words. I will try to get to a few weigh ins just to say hi. I appreciate the offers here and in the emails I recieved, to just go fishing. I will try to find some time here and there to take some of you up on that.

My Christmas wish list includes an entry into the PWT event in Winneconne as an Am for 2007. So with any luck I will get to do one event in 2007.

Best of luck to you in your advancement. Making your family a priority shows that you are a class act. Enjoy them while you can. Hope everything goes well for you and your family. Thanks for the support of the MWS this year. Stop in at one of our tournaments if you have a chance this year.

Good Luck

Rocket,

Good move. I work with a parent of one of your son's team mates. I was a pretty good skater myself, and enjoy watching the kids play. I'll come out to some games and cheer them on.

Hope things go well at work, and your parents are in our thoughts. Always a pleasure to talk with you.

Rocket,

Sorry to hear that you're taking time off, but you're definitely doing it for all the right reasons as everyone else has said. Hopefully you can get into a couple local tournaments to scratch that competitive itch!

Thanks for all you've shared with me over the last couple years and hopefully we can hook up next year for some fun fishing. Maybe I'll see you in the PWT next year!

Take care my friend and enjoy helping your son "chase the dream".

Family FIRST!

My boys are both adults now, and some of the best memories I have were spending time with them as they grew up.
