Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm up at little Bay with my fishing partner "Someday". We arrived late last night and decided to give it a try, We had the whole place to ourselves with absolutely no other boats at the landing.

We ended up 8 for 13 and still can not figure out how we missed the solid hookups. Biggest fish were an 11, 9 and 8 1/2 pounder. The smaller fish averaged 22-24 inches.

The weather is absolutely beautiful and fish appear to active for the amount of time we had to fish. We were fortunate to get a few reports before heading up so we only worked one area to catch these fish.

We have heard a few people complaining about the slow bite. My advise is to change your game plan. It doesn't appear that the shallow bite of years past has developed. We are using leadcore line at night along with shallow running crankbaits. 2 1/2 to 3 colors while working fast breaks appears to be the ticket.

If you shot your deer and have recovered from the big feast I'd suggest coming up. The weather is supposed to stay beautiful and the big girls are interested in your offering. We have friends who have been taking nice fish up to 12 pounds on a regular basis.

We'll be staying until Sunday so if you decide to come up and need a little help with the specifics, give me a call. BUT try calling when the sun goes down, We'll be night owls for the remainder of our stay.

Sounds great.... We're (Jeff and I) are fishing the Mississippi River Pool 22 between feasts of turkey and family "stuff"... A few Sauger but it beats working...

Good luck the next few days... Talk to you when you get back.

I'm heading up in the morning and will be at the Terrace until Sunday. I took last weekend off for deer hunting but we did fairly good the weekend before, both day and night. I have a few spots to trade with you if you're interested. If you're fishing the same area you did good in last year you've already got one of them. I'm in a silver/red Ranger 621 with Yamahas.

The feast continued last night
21 fish with most in the 26-28 1/2 range. These fish are really fat. We caught one 27 3/4 that went nine pounds. No double digit fish last night in our boat but friends of ours working the same area caught 2-11 pounders and a beautiful 13. Fish came on leadcore using 2 1/2 to 3 colors AND mono with Deep AJ's. Purple Prism is the still the best color. Water temps in the area we are working are still in the low 40's.

Fishoil,
Most of our fish are coming just south of that area you speak of. We're about 1/2 to 1 mile from the hot spot we talked about last year. If you see this post, we're monitoring channel 69.

Good fishing everyone. There are still very few people around. We never see more than a handful of boats but I'm sure that will change this weekend.

Talk to you later Greg.

The saga continues............

31 fish last night with 3 over 10 pounds. We lost track of the 7's, 8's and 9's that were released. Same program as the last two days. The weather was unbelievable and the fish very cooperative. Listening to the marine radio indicated that that there are others having the same kind of action. There were a few more boats last night but we never had more than 4-5 other fishermen in the general area. It appeared that there were about 12-18 rigs spread out in the general area with most reporting nice catches. Besides using the leadcore setups, we also caught are large number of fish using deep divers with mono. The fish definitely have a preference for very large baits. I felt that using scent really helped.

One more night and then it's back to reality, but with a lot of great memories and stories. We still heard others catching some big 11 and 12 pounders. That'll be our goal for tonight

Sunshine, you're killing me!!! With my boat gone I'm left to live through your reports. And it's not quite like the real thing!!!

Great job Dennis. Send some pictures if you can.

Dennis, I didn't see your reply until I got home tonight. We were fishing a couple miles north of you and did good too. We had 27 on Friday and 20 on Saturday. Pretty much anything we put in the water caught fish, but the PP AJ was by far the best producer. Hopefully the weather will hold for a while yet, I've got 3 more trips planned yet this year. If anyone is thinking about heading up, do it!! The fishing should stay good all the way until iceup.

Here are a couple of the pictures for ya' Jerry. You need to bum a ride and get out there. It's been a few years since we caught fish like this, getting both the size and quantity. We had to really think back to the last 30 fish night we had on lbdn.

Sorry that we missed each other Fish oil. Glad that you did well also.

We ended up with 71 fish for the trip. More 8, 9, 10 and one 11 pound fish than a guy really deserves.

We were very fortunate to have Orchard Frank in the boat with us on Friday night or a few hours. It was a real hoot. Lots of laughs and Frank drove the boat keeping us on the fish the whole time while Someday and I battled 'em. We never would have been able to put so many fish in the boat if it wasn't for his fantastic driving. Thanks Frank !!

Had a great time in the boat with you guys, any time is good for me. What was one of the most fun things to witness was that 2 hardcore, tourney-tested, guides, writers, etc were having fun like 2 kids watching the bobber go down. So, Sunshine, did the secret spot still kill them on Sat?

Frank,
You made me laugh again! You are correct, we were exactly like 2 kids watching the bobber go down. The memory will last a long time and for that I thank you. The secret spot still produced on saturday. But I'm not too sure how secret it is any more. It appeared that many of those boats we could see north of us migrated toward the area that we were fishing. It got a little crowded and I heard a few angy words on the marine radio from people complaining about being cut off. It may be time to look around again to stay that next step ahead of the crowds For what it is worth, I had a friend do just as well this past weekend several miles North of where we were. He reports that he had the area almost to himself. My guess is that many people drove right by him looking for fish

Thanks Again Frank! I still can't get rid of this grin.

For everyone who has e-mailed me and asked "just where is Dennis fishing", I thought I'd just post a picture and show you.... you know they say a picture is worth a thousand walleyes...er words.

I took this picture with a long-range telephoto lens from the Tower Bridge in Green Bay over his shoulder when he was not looking. (A very long shot to get indeed; I had to compensate for the curvature of the earth)

Nice job Dennis, I'm back to dreaming about next year... sigh....

I thought that's were he was! Thanks for confirming, PS.

Dennis, great fish bring great smiles! Congrats on a successful LBDN trip! One of these years, I may skip the deer hunting, and get up there again. Well, maybe just the opener, and then get up there! hehehe
