"Wednesday, Jan. 10th. Little Bay de Noc "

last nights temps. dropped to around 10' here in Gladstone on the Lakeshore. Quiet, calm conditions and with a few more nights of this cold weather ice again will be re-forming on the upper Bays water.
As of a ride throughout the Bay yesterday, late afternoon their exists open-water straight across from Butlers Island to the other east shoreline along with open water completely south of Gladstone and beyond Escanaba.

Some anglers are fishing some of the inland lakes with successful catches of panfish along with some northern pike.
Top bait choices for the perch, bluegill and crappie have been primarily waxies, spikes and wigglers.
Tackle being used and Northland Micro Minnows, Bug-Eye's and Fire-Eye Minnows and several of the Rapala Jigging Raps (W2SFC)
Light lines 2 to 4 pound test (Berkley's Fireline Crystal)
Pike have been hitting larger sucker/shiner/tip-up combinations.
Fishing off the bottom several feet and in the greener weeds still existing.

As always be careful even on these smaller lakes as ice conditions vary from place to place.

The Escanaba Harbor area is seeing some fishing activity as well the Escanaba River shoreline by both boat and shore fisherman.

Keep in touch and seeing you on the ice.
Marty
