| You can start with a good quality med light action spinning rod in 6'6 or 7' lenth. I use Fig Rig rods and love them. For a real a 1500 series Shimano spinning real will never fail you. Several modles to choose from depending on $$ you want to spend.
A small selection of 1/8 and 1/4 oz leadhead jigs, some floating bodies and slip bobbers. What ever water you fish and what ever time of year this should get you started with any type of live bait you want to use. Your local bait shop in your area should be able to dirrect to to more area specific baits/ live bait. I'd pick up a few crank baits as well. |

Location: upper michigan | I would recomend that you get some walleye insider magazines you can either buy them at the store or get a subscription. You dont need to go top doller right off the bat unless thats what you want to do. Like the post above a good selection of jigs is a must. For clear water on color that will not stear you wrong is black that is my go to color. Also get yourself some slip bobbers they will help you present you bait away from the boat as in clear water walleye can be real boat shy. |

Location: Rhinelander | I'd guess you are from the northern half of the state, where are you fishing? Terry knows the NW pretty well, and I know NC pretty well. If you are near Rhinelander, I'd be happy to share a boat a couple times this Spring. |
