Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | "April 2nd., more open-water for Little Bay report,"
well after settling in after the supper hour looking out the office window and seeing a lot of open "blue" waters in front of the house.
Yesterday already open-water existed from the narrows both north and south of Saunders Point. Todays winds opened and blew ice around more and actually seeing the Coast Guard rescue boat making a run up to the narrows turning around and heading back to the Escanaba Harbor docking site.
Daytime temps. running around 50' and above. Looks like Mother Nature going to throw in some nasty weather over night with some snow and lower temps. in the 30's for the upcoming days.
Conditions have kept fisherman from the Bay other than a few shoreline anglers off the river and harbor of Escanaba.
Steelhead fishing reports are coming in and hearing of action up around the Marquette area and talking to some anglers doing some searching on the local rivers here as well.
Best baits are spawn and yarn eggs.
I'm going to try and get out in the next few days and just see what I can find.
If your looking for some walleye action the Menominee River is doing well in good catches in the river and mouth of.
Best bites coming fishing vertical, jigs and minnows (plastics)
Keep in touch fisherman as once we've got complete "ice-out" should be some pretty good perch action happening as well.
Start getting those rigs ready, cleaning up and re-spooling reels and rods.
