The winds are down a bit allowing access to lake Erie today. Sony Reynolds announced the big water to be open this morning at about 6:00 AM. Sonny urged common sense and caution, as it is still going to be rough out there despite the overall decrease in wind velocity.

Skies are to be cloudy, with rain and snow showers possible this afternoon as temperatures fall into the mid thirties.

Winds now are out of the SW at 9, with 17 MPH winds forecast as a front moves out of the area. Gusts to 35 are forecast, but that looks to be late in the day.

Here's the chart through 1 PM from Accuweather:

We will update throughout the day if the winds pick up.

Waves yesterday were 9' average on Erie.
Many of the Pros expressed concern over the rough seas yesterday moving the fish on the big water, due to very poor water clarity. None the less, many are headed out to check the conditions. Mercury/Lund Pro Ron Seelhoff said he will check the big water first, at least for a couple hours. Toyota Trucks/Evinrude Pro Pat Neu said he was haeding for the big water as well, but was concenred with the overall conditions.

The weights today were definitely down for many of the FLW Pros. It seems most headed out on the big water only to find it so muddy one couldn't see a few inches under the surface.

Some of the Pros didn't wet a line until almost noon. The long trip out to the bay followed by exploration looking for a clear line/mud line absorbed too much time for some while others bailed and headed to the river for a limit.

Mark Meravy was fishing the river today. He's taking a 5# plus advantage into day three.

The wind steadily climbed to 25 MPH during the weigh in, waiting just long enough to kick up to allow everyone to get off the water safely.

Day Three will be interesting; if the winds stay up and the big water is out of bounds, limits will again be common but big fish not so. There's plenty of room for movement into and out of the top ten at this point. If the big water settles down, one bag of the big fish so common during prefish could launch a team now seemingly out of the running into the top ten.

Stay with WalleyeFIRST tomorrow morning. We will be announcing what waters are open to fish as soon as Sonny reynolds, FLW Tournament Director, makes the call.
